ENT doc office LPN

What a typical day as a LPN at the ENT doc. office like?

My experience was fun. We had one MD, one PA, and a full-time audiologist and part-time audiologist. All four providers had their own schedule, as did the allergy nurse. The first nurse to get in each day stocked the rooms from the auto-clave and printed the daily schedules (all 4 providers had their own schedule). The allergy nurse administered allergy shots and performed allergy testing (both scheduled and add-on) in her own room. One nurse brought pts back, got vitals, H&P, and roomed pts according to provider (MD or PA, the audiologists got their own pts) and reason for visit (ear problems got a room with a scope). One nurse went with the MD and the PA to assist in the rooms, from handing instruments to the provider to writing scripts (per the doc orders and the doc signed them) to scheduling CT/MRI. The MD's nurse would assist in minor surgical procedures in-office. The PA's nurse would prepare preop consent forms. Phones would be checked before lunch, messages answered or forwarded to provider for further action; repeat after last pt is in a room. End of day consists of returning all messages, cleaning instruments, packaging instruments, and loading the auto-clave. On a less regular schedule suction canisters had to be solidified and switched out for new ones, supplies ordered, sharps containers ready for pickup. I loved it and would love to be in that setting again.

Do you think an inactive chronic Hep B carrier can be working as an LPN in ENT doc tot office?

Specializes in critical care, ER,ICU, CVSURG, CCU.

as long as you practice good safe blood born pathogen practices you should be fine.
