Published

Dear all,

I am a international trained Nurse, may I know what's the english requirement to work as a RN in New Mexico? Where can I get such information? Do they recognize IELTS TEST? What's the minimal band score?

Thanks for all your help!

I can not see anything which indicates on NM BON website that you need English exam but it is required for visa screen certificate depending on whether your nurse training as done with English text books it may be waivered and you can find out what is required at http://www.cgfns.org they accept TOFEL and IELTS

Licensure is completely separate from immigration and immigration requires that you have passed the English exams to be able to get a visa to work in the US as an RN.

NM does not have a language requirement, but the US government does.

There are already several threads on this forum with the required scores to be able to get a visa, you can also find them on the CGFNS website.

Hi, Silverdragon102, Suzanne4,

Thanks for your info. I have checked english requirement for RN from CGFNS website. Luckly I met their requirement. What's more, if I registered in New mexico, can I be able to work in other states without registration in that specific state which I wish to stay.

Thanks!

Licenses are only valid for the one state that they are issued for. If you are not already living in the US when you apply for licensure, the Compact Pact will not apply for you and you will be required to obtain a license in the state that you wish to work in.

If you move from the original state, the Compact part of the license also fails to exist, the compact license in only valid if one retains permanent residency in the one state.

Each state in the US has their own license that is issued.
