english composition

Published

I have got to take a written English course and i was checking to see if anyone has taken English composition thru Penn Foster and if excelsior will accept it - Any info would be appreciated.

Could you please tell me what you used to study for the english exam? I have to fulfill this requirement also and I am not looking forward to it. Thanks for any input.

Excelsior actually has another testing program that is kind of like a CLEP and is much cheaper than their actual test. It is called UEXCEL and it is a much easier test than English Comp. All you have to do is google uexceltest and it will take you to their website. You still get a free exam content guide. I took this test with 2 wks of study and passed it with a B. I also recommed purchasing their additional writing service, I think it is called SmartThinking. It is a practice program that prepares you for their test, you are actually graded by computer as soon as you submit the exam. I was the first one to take this test at my testing center in Knoxville, TN and had some difficulty with the exam passing from Pearson to Excelsior so my results did not come in for about two weeks. I believe the price of the exam is 85$. Hope this helps you, and Good Luck. Prayers are with you!:)

study material.. i guess any fairly current college writing book would work, not to suggest anything as simple as using google. they offer an online writing tool called my access just about the same as ec offers, it includes a couple of interactive lessons on it, didn't help much.

if you look at an earlier post i thought i posted the url for uexcel it should make it easy to go there, down load the study guide, and sign up for the writing tool. pretty easy

i think i had two essays to write, nothing major, on the computer screen at pv the screen will be split, on the top will be an explanation of what you are writing about and at the bottom will be where you write, i couldn't find a spell check button so i used the old school method.

i found the study guide very helpful, unlike some of the other tests i took. i remember taking more then one test where i studied my butt off on a subject only to discover there was only 3-4 questions on the subject.

i hope this help you out some

good luck

steve
