End of Monitoring

Published

I am in my last 30 days of a 2 year program, 18 days in fact, not that I'm counting. I wonder if they drug test through Affinity until the final day or if they give good time exceptions? LOL I doubt it, this is TPAPN after all.

Also I wanted to say to those just entering this program that your career is not over! I was so ashamed of this entire situation but was determined to not let it define me. My case was not about diversion but tested positive for THC after a 2 week vacation. There was so much completely wrong on how this played out, but after fighting it for 5 years, I just played their game so I could move forward with my life. I was so pessimistic about this, thinking it's such a long time to have to contemplate every single thing you put in your body. Vacation had to be scheduled around places with testing sites and the cost was just crazy.!! I have reached the finish line and this will be wiped from my record completely.

Please know, you can and you will get through this! If you truly struggle with addiction, take this time to really evaluate what's important to you and your life and be prepared to do whatever it takes. All cases are different and this has just been my experience here in Texas. I'm happy to answer any questions I can if it will ease your mind about starting the journey! This does not define YOU!

My probation ended 7 days ago and I am not sure what my next step is. My case manager through IPRP says to ask my probation officer through the board but I can never get anyone when I call up there. I have been compliant the last 3 years and I want to know what to expect when I go before the board for hopefully the last time, they are so intimidating and frankly, not very nice so some word to ease mymind would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

I think my case manager was more ready to leave than I was ? He emailed me a month before and told me what to expect and then the day before as well. The board then sent me a letter saying everything was good to go about a week after my end date. are you still able to check in?

Mine ends August 29th. I'm in Alabama. I also failed a random UDS (no diversion). I got one year probation. Do they end on the exact date you started or does it take longer for them to contact you telling you that it's over?

Congratulations! I am close to finishing six year contract (3 year had to repeat due to positive peth test) My question is roughly how long are you officially done after your contract date?  Thanks!

I got hired at a doctors office for my probation. Did your probation monitor make you send standarized protocols and RN duty statement?

Depends on the consent order of the individual. Some say the nurse must "request," for probation to end when the time is completed. During this time, the nurse usually has to still check in and the monitoring program coordinates with the BON that the nurse is done and finished with monitoring. This process can take 1 week to 6 weeks.

The other commonality is a nurse that had a consent order that does NOT say the nurse needs to "request," end to probation, monitoring, etc. These consent orders will just have a set time frame and the process pretty much ends when the time is up and within a week, the nurse tries to check in and they can no longer check in anymore and the process is over and a letter arrives in the mail.

Again, TALK to the BON compliance office/department. They can often give you more answers than your monitoring case manager.

Thanks for sharing this hopeful post!
