Hi Everyone!
I am getting ready to apply to Emory's Fall 2012 BSN for 2nd Degree program and thought it may be helpful to start up a little forum/therapy group-ha.
If you are:
currently applying/a former applicant/a current Emory BSN student/a current BSN/MSN student, I'd love to hear from you!
Has everyone finished their pre-recs? Does anyone else have a non competitive undergrad (like me) G.P.A.? Does anyone know who is considered a competitive applicant? Where is everyone else applying?
I look forward to speaking with everyone...and hopefully entering the Fall '12 class together!

Hey All!
It's been so beneficial to read everyone's questions and answers regarding Emory's nursing program.
I am someone who is still in the "thick" of transitioning from teaching to nursing.
I stopped teaching in '09 took many of the prerequisites between 2009-2010 and am currently
researching state schools in Florida and out-of-state schools like Emory, Vanderbilt, UVermont, etc. with the specific programs of Graduate-entry masters programs. So far, I really like Emory, Vanderbilt, U Vermont (they have an accelerated DNP program, Go figure!), Case Western, Columbia, U F (alma mater), UNF, Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, U Chicago-Ill, and MGH.
After perusing Emory's website and their school's values, I absolutely love their focus on inculcating social responsibility in their students....makes it an attractive school to me besides the clinical strength of the school.
Enough about me. I just wanted to say I really appreciate those who are current students really addressing the questions about what its like at Emory. Really paints a picture to us as readers.
I will be applying forl 2013. At the moment, my focus is on finishing their Chemistry prereqs and saving up as much money as I can.
I have a FT job as a Admin Assistant for a healthcare company that employs physicians, PAs, and Nurse practitioners for emergency rooms all across the US. It's an awesome company and I work in the executive department under the President and CMO. Please if you have a desire to become an Emergency Room NP or know someone that does, then check out this company they really strive for you to be a leader in your field and they pay you well over the average nurse practitioner. Also, let me know and I can give a contact with one of our recruiters.
Last thing,
here are some of my questions for those who have been accepted recently and/or current Emory nursing students:
1. What were your academic stats: GPA (cum), GPA (prereq), TEAS/GRE, previous health experience, essay contents, etc.
2. Give me your reason for choosing Emory?
3. What other schools did you apply to?
4. What was your finiancial package from Emory?
5. How much of your personal savings are going into your Emory education?
Thanks for reading this and even more thanks for replying!
@Jai5143The dress code for lectures are pretty much anything that you feel wearing. They are not strict about dress code for lectures but for lab, you either wear a business casual(no jeans) with a lab coat or any nursing scrub but for clinicals, it's strictly a blue navy nursing scrub which can be purchase at any uniform advantage storesHope this helps.

I got 100% maths. You got to know the metric conversions, from miles to kms, from inches to meters, from kgs to lbs vv. Some basic algebra like looking for x from a simple equation, converting from a number like 50 for example to Roman numerals and so on. Try youtube, it is helful, too.
