EMORY ABSN+MSN 2018

Published

So I decided to start a thread for the Fall 2018. Any current/prospective student on here? What GPA did you have when you applied and how competitive is the selection process? If you don't mind sharing your work experience and GRE score, that will be awesome. For those who are enrolled, do you mind sharing your experience?

I'm not sure why it's so expensive but the majority of the group did not receive aid. We are waiting for January 15 to roll around to see if they will offer scholarships and additional funding to students.

I'm really hoping that we'll see some luck on the 15th, but I'm not holding my breath :(

I applied to the family nurse practioner program. What about you? I'm SUPER nervous about getting in.

I am . . . even though January 15 is a holiday (MLK) day and the university will be presumably closed, will we still get our admission decision? What specialty are you apply for?

Hi, I live in Atlanta and went to their office a few days ago to ask some questions. She told me that their computer system will roll out decisions on the 15th at around 5PM. I think emory is a long shot for me due to my not so great GRE scores, but I'm still hoping for the best! I applied ABSN+MSN women's health.

I'm not sure if I will get in either...fingers crossed for everyone. I really hope we all get accepted. I think they look at the applicant as a whole and not just your scores to see what you can bring to the table.

Yes to the holistic view of the applicant. When I spoke with the AMSN admissions director, she told me that even though my verbal score on the GRE was not stellar and that my GPA is .001 points away from being a 3.0, the fact that I have a great CV and was very involved during my first undergrad was a giant plus. She also recommended that the statement of purpose comes from the heart and is not just a cut and paste version of any other admissions essay.

Yea I spoke from the heart on my statement of purpose. I talked about how my son was treated as an infant by his PCM and how I didn't want any other mothers to experience what I went through trying to get my son the care he needed.

okay thank you . . . this is such a nerve racking experience .

Yes it definitely is nerve racking. Let me know if either of you ladies get in

Have all of your pre reqs and degree been checked off on the application?

Have all of your pre reqs and degree been checked off on the application?

Yes, one of the questions I had for the admissions counselor was why my prereqs and bachelors degree were not checked off even though all my transcripts were received. She told me that their office has been understaffed, as nursing students are mainly the ones that go through transcripts and check these requirements off. As Emory is still on winter break, it is just taking a little bit of time. I'm sure you could call the office and get them to take care of this for you!
