hello everyone..
im an RN based in the philippines.
is there a site where i can download all the forms and other requirements needed in applying for the nclex exams? to save some funds, i've decided not to pay a center to do this for me.
i have already downloaded the application forms, evaluation forms, etc from the respective website of my desired state. my biggest problem to date is the fingerprint card.
short of actually flying to manila to get this from the embassy, what else can i do?
can i order this somewhere?
any help would be much appreciated. thank you.

I'm a nurse based in Manila. I requested my fingerprint card but it's been almost a month now.. A friend of mine tried comparing these cards and they all seem to be the same. Would it matter if I got a friend's extra fingerprint card instead?

No, problem with that as long as the address on the card is addressed to the same State Board. I'm guessing, you are pertaining to CA BRN? They occasionally send 2 cards per applicant when only one is actually needed and you are paying for just one card to be processed as well.
The extra card is just in case it is needed to be re-done because of bents to the cards or smudges on the prints so that the Board don't have to waste money snail mailing everyone everytime as snail mailing might be more expensive than the cards themselves.

Every State has its own corresponding fingerprinting card. If you have relatives in the state where you are intending to apply your stateboard exams, just ask them to get you one from the local police office and send the same to you thru mail...have the fingerprinting in the NBI Carriedo if you are from Metro Manila or to the local NBI office ofyour locality...
I keep reading about asking relatives to do things and spend for them when it can easily be done by yourselves at at no cost and hassle to anyone.
Not that asking for help to your relatives is bad but if you can do it yourselves and it will be of no cost to you then why not do it yourselves.
Reserve that 'help' from relatives where it matters most.
Requesting cards directly from CA BRN is free and just needs 2-6 weeks for the snail mail to come. If you have a friend w/ an extra card CA BRN gave her then try to get that and if you are able to get a card from someone else and your requested cards just came through the mail then give those extra cards as well to those needing it. This way it saves everyone time, effort and money rather than ask a relative to commute to somewhere to get one and then spend money to send it via first class airmail.
This goes to everything else as well as I oftentimes read people mailing applications to relatives first then asking them to mail it from there. Why not mail it directly to where it should be ?? Saves time and money.
Mailing it to relatives does not guarantee anything as well, as I seldom read mails from relatives in the US not reaching their destinations and sometimes their relatives misplace it before it gets mailed and then they have to mail it again to their relatives.
Just use fedex or DHL or anything that has tracking to mail it directly to where it should be. Saves more money and effort in the long run.
Just my humble opinion.

If interested in Ca, suggest that you read the threads about why that is not recommended as the state to chose for initial licensure if you do not already have a SSN#.
Much has already been written on this subject.

Well, if you can't help your relatives even for small favors or errands, how much more if they really badly needed your help. we are just too fortunate our relatives in USA helped us unconditionally....
Many thanks! My fingerprint cards arrived today. Yey! It took a month for it to get here and I just got worried because I was informed that it should only take 2 weeks. Anyways, I'm just glad I have it now. Thanks for the info anyway. I appreciate it very much. Unfortunately, the mail man just jammed it in my mail box and it is slightly bent. BUT luckily no defined creases and still salvageable. Atm, it's in between the pages of my nclex book with a bigger thicker book on top of it. Thanks again!
