ELMSN SFSU Fall 2022

Published

Hi all!!

I know it's a bit early but I'm looking to apply to SFSU's ELMSN program for Fall 2022 and I was wondering if there's anyone here that has already applied to this program and could answer some questions for me regarding stats and what the application process is like?!

Also open to finding people who are also going to apply this cycle ?

Thanks!

Didn't apply to this program but debating if I should in the future...

I am a former sfsu graduate, would I still have to fill out a "Cal State Apply application ?"

Also, if you were to specialize in the CNS role, can you also apply for the FNP certificate after that year of clinical experience?

Anyone have had the same thoughts or was in the same boat as me before?

Yes you still have to fill out Cal state application and specify post grad degree.
You will keep your same student ID number but I recommend filling out the cal state application ASAP.

Hey guys,

I am curious as to whether or not anyone has been contacted off the wait list this year? My number has not changed since decisions were released so I assume they have not started contacting students yet?

Hi! I made a FB group for accepted students.

Good day,

I just wanted to ask those who are currently in the program:

*Total Cost of the program (tuition + all nursing/miscellaneous expenses)

*How's the program so far, like overall experience?

Thank you.

Tuition is about 4500 a semester, it depends on how many units you take. You can check the SFSU website to see the actual price per unit. It's hard to say what the total cost is a semester because it depends on how many texts books you buy, your commute status (parking passes or parking permit vs. public transportation or walking), subscription books,  and other materials. You do purchase a nursing kit your first semester and it's around 200$, but you don't have to buy any other supplies other than like a stethoscope..

over all the program has been great and it is more affordable than other nursing programs.

Are you able to nurse your last year since you're eligible to take the NCLEX after year 2?

Unfortunately no. Many of the nurses I've been working with at clinicals highly encourage completing our master's. It's only 1 more year of school, and you get it over with. Returning to school after receiving your BSN can be more difficult, but if all you want is a BSN, then accept a BSN program ?

I want the MSN, was just hoping we could gain some experience being an RN our last year since we're eligible to take the NCLEX. I know for UCSF's program you can but unfortunately that program is suspended. I wonder if they don't allow you to because people were dropping out after completing the BSN portion of the program, so now they hold it hostage until we're done with the MSN too, haha.
