Elmhurst Master's Entry in Nursing Practice MENP Fall 2022

Published

Hello all,

I haven't seen a chat started for Elmhurst's MENP Fall 2022 applicants. Just reaching out to any of you out there, so we can lean on each other for support ?

Also, I've recently been extended an invitation. The email said it would be a 30 minute Zoom call -- which is expected, but they also said that there would be a 30 minute writing portion in which I would have to provide a writing sample on the spot. That part completely caught me off guard. Does anybody know what this writing portion is all about? I've never heard of any other program doing anything like that.

Hi everyone! I heard back and was admitted on 2/8. I have accepted this offer and am looking forward to my time as a bluejay! Would love to connect with other students who are attending in the fall.

Congrats! I'm still torn between this program and Rush. I would love to hear why you have decided to accept Elmhurst's offer, I just want to be able to gain more insight on the program or the feelings people may have.

@JS_2022 Absolutely! I went to undergrad at a large university and decided that I was looking for a more intimate and personalized education. I currently have a colleague in Elmhurst’s MENP program who has nothing but positive things to say about the program operations, staff, and opportunities.

With a small cohort size and even smaller lab groups, Elmhurst seemed to provide more support than other options. I have been told of a mentoring program between cohort years, which I think is a very unique positive to success in a program as it gives an individual an immediate contact for advice/questions/insight.

I have experienced large learning environments before and they seem to trend with having a more competitive atmosphere. For a program as rigorous as a MSN-CNL, I want to be surrounded by people and institutions that make me feel valued and heard as an individual and I am confident Elmhurst would do that.

I completely agree with this.

I actually went to Elmhurst for undergrad and I loved it! Then I went to a huge research university in Belgium for my masters degree and I did not like the experience of being at such a big school (obviously many other things were different in this situation as well, but everything else was positive except the size). The community, faculty, and whole experience at Elmhurst is amazing. Everyone is super supportive and helpful. Another plus for me is that Elmhurst has a much better location and I wasn't super keen to commute downtown.

I look forward to starting with you in the fall!

I accepted my admission into Elmhurst. I am still waiting to hear back from Rush. I also applied to Depaul.

@gedrin was your colleague able to maintain employment while in Elmhurst's MENP program?

Has anyone able to maintain a full time job while on the MENP program?

I do not think it would be possible to work full time. Some people have managed to keep working 1-2 days/week max. Classes and clinical take 20-30 hours a week, plus assignments and class work at home take a lot of time. Class and clinical are only offered at one time so you would need a flexible job that you can schedule around. Maybe it's different with the online MENP, I'm not sure how that works.
