I'm hoping to rank in June and am wondering about the programs specifics if I do rank. When do clinicals start? Do they have certain times/days or does it rotate? Does EPCC use certain hospitals? I'm trying to figure out childcare for my children in the fall and need to figure out which daycare to use. Whose work would be closest, how late they can keep them etc.
/*Guys.....i DESPERATELY need help. I am pretty sure that I will rank for fall of this year. Letters will go out on June 3rd. Can anyone PLEASE tell me once you respond that you are accepting your seat, how long will you have to get fingerprinted and do the background check etc??? The reason Im asking is because my husband is in Germany (Army) and I would like to visit for the summer. Im trying to decide if I need to leave now and be back by the end of June or find out exactly how it works. I can have my mom send the letter back that says I want to accept my seat and I could do the background check online...right???...I believe the orientation and fingerprinting is the only thing I need to be physically present for correct??? Please help me and thanks SSSSOOOOOO much in advance. Lexis
We couldn't get fingerprints until after the orientation. All the forms and directions were given to us on that day last summer and that orientation date varies every year (sometime in July). That date should be on the acceptance letter you receive in the mail. As long as your other stuff is in order you shouldn't have to do anything between now and July. Best bet is to call Veronica Cena and confirm with her before you book your trip. They are constantly changing how clearance is done. She would be the best person to answer any questions. She's typically very busy during ranking but if you leave her a message she will always answer! Good luck!
You are welcome. I believe it has to do with everyone officially accepting the seats and the school has to cross check everything several times. Calling Mrs Cena for clarification is the best bet. If she doesn't know, no one else really does :) Good luck to you too! It's a great program!
Hey guys!!!...I ranked for June 2015 YAY!!!! Can you guys tell me if you are members of project arriba??? Also I REALLY need to know can anyone give me the class/clinical times for both the morning and afternoon schedules? Thanks Im trying to coordinate childcare and pick a provider....any referrals?
Congratulations Lexis! I'm not in a project arriba, but I know quite a few that are. Do you have a specific question or just want to know the general info? I can try to put you in touch with someone from my class, but I'll have to ask for their permission first. As far as scheduling goes, you will not know if you are morning or afternoon until they assign you to your classes, you don't get to pick. Having said that, even if you do get one or another, it means absolutely nothing, be prepared to be in school all day long. Some days you will leave early, some days might be off, but majority will contain both lecture and lab with long breaks in between. Drug and dosage class is the only one where you spend the shortest amount of time in class, few hours I'd say, and some days you are off. But I suggest to use that time and get cracking on your foundations book. Clinical vary slightly but most start around 6-6:30 am till somewhere around 3:30 pm. Sometimes there is one weekend and nights group, but you are not guaranteed to get it. They do allow sometimes to switch clinical groups on the first day when you receive your clinical assignments but you have to find a student to switch with and have a good reason to do so. All in all, students find ways to work the schedule out. Where do you live? I can only suggest providers on the West side.
Congrats Lexis!! I hope to rank in October for January start. Are you doing the generic RN or the LVN transition?
I'm from Cali and they screwed up my transfer courses. They gave me credit for English 1302 instead of 1301 and told me I'd have to CLEP that course or take it since you HAVE to have 1301! I don't want to retake the class because I should have gotten credit for 1301. So now I'm going to try admissions and see if they can change it. They even gave me credit for the wrong history class, and gave me the wrong grade for my math class ***. I have spoken with 2 counselors and emailed a third and they seem to not be able to answer my questions! It's so frustrating and I can't just hop on a plane to meet them every time I have a question.
Btw I'm moving there because my boyfriend is working at Ft. Bliss building the replacement hospital. I just got my first LVN job and trying to get my experience so I can rank for October to start January.
Also, I'm so pissed they got rid of the Microbiology prerequisite! I was taking Anatomy, Micro, and Physiology in the same semester. When I saw Mr. Lopez in March he said they got rid of the Micro requirement. Last time I spoke with Mr. Pandy in January he said Micro was needed. I'm pissed because had I known I didn't need it my schoolwork would have been much easier and I could have gotten a better grade! I got B's in all 3 classes, but I could've done better :/
