Hi is anyone out there applying to the el centro nursing program for fall 2012? Would you share points and which campus you're choosing ? :)
So now im worried that aftet my acceptence theyll send me a denile letter and after that ill pretty much have wasted tons, of time with this program since theyre changing it.. Ive worked so hard getting experience and stuff for the extra points etc.. And also worried I wont even get a job out of it

I hope it will not happen to you! Think positive!
About the new point system, it is still an ADN program. Why do they give point to claases required for BSN? It's understandable to give point for freshman classes like govt 1, hist 1, statistic... But patho, pharm, American literature too??I know you can finish most of them in 1 and half year including summer if you are a full time student but not all people are full time students (that's why they choose ADN right?) Why dont El Centro switch to BSN program then?
@thomasphan idk why they won't just make it a 4yr BSN program. I do understand the push towards better educated nurses though. I have most of those BSN classes completed b/c I'm planning on getting a bachelors anyway. True, an ADN and a BSN might start out making about the same in pay but the BSN nurse will likely be promoted w/ a higher pay before than the ADN. For me, the whole point of having a career is to do what I love and make the most money while doing it. I don't want to do the same amount of work and make less pay as the next guy. Stopping at ADN is not an option for me. I just wish they would have given a better notice for those who was not prepared. Hopefully with 16pts this won't be an issue for you b/c you will get in this go round. Good Luck!!!
@ Thomas I think the reason why they are not making it a BSN program bc el centro is a Two year community college I don't think they are allowed to give a bachelor degree.. That's what s four year universities are for... I think. But that would be so great if they did bc I have already taken all those extra classes for UTA but I didnt get in ...

I totally agree with the change because it is good in long term, but Im kinda feel sad for some people because of the short notice
