congratulations! to everyone that is starting in january!
i'm so excited to meet everyone-please introduce yourself!
:groupwelcome:
I hope everyone is doing well! I'm so glad to see everyone moving on and almost at graduation!!!!
yin yang- I saw that you have an interview at MCD next week in the ER. That's very exciting! I work up in the ICU just one floor above the ER in the same building. I think the ER here is a great one. It is a level 3 which is far from Parkland's ER, but I don't mind that part. We get ER patients sometimes but I've never officially worked in the ER. The ER Interns I took ACLS with were loving it in the ER. I wish I had more information to give you about the ER. If you have any specific questions, just ask and hopefully I can help you. Good luck with your interview! I got hired October 2nd of last year so it seems like they're doing the interviews around the same time. Let us know how things turn out! Maybe I'll be seeing you around the hallways here
Katie- how's OB? Are you still working all of the time?

It's been great. It's hard to believe that we have been RNs for almost a year now.
I started taking some classes part time at NorthLake again. I am also a TWU student now, but I start taking classes there in January. I am thinking about patho that I need for upper level nursing. So, it's been busy and I feel like a sometime.
How is your schedule?

UTSW has partnered with UTA to offer a RN-BSN. I have applied, but will wait until the February 23rd start date. (I'm waiting until I'm there 6 mos for tuition reimbursement. I can't do it otherwise....I HAVE A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL!!! lol) I "REALLYYYYYY" wanted to start Nov 17th, though!!!!
This is the part that makes it really nice that I finished all my BSN pre-reqs before starting the ADN!
That is exciting, Yang!! I thought about UT-Tyler's RN-MSN program, but decided to go in baby steps!
Katie, I have to be accepted first. It is nine, 5 to 8-week courses, with a week or so in between, plus one upper level elective that must be taken before the capstone course...which is the last course.
I just saw on the UTA portal that I was accepted to start classes in Spring 09 semester! (Of course, it's only for the BSN, but after that I will have completed my original high school plan.....finishing what was started in Fall 1991. LOL)
Again, good luck to you, Yang. I hope you get your good news about your RN-MSN program soon!
I hear that! I am carrying on from 1994 - gheesh wish I could go back and do it all different...live and learn huh!?
Well, yes and no. I probably would have given it all up already. I really think I needed to do the family thing first, then school.
Now that my girls are both in school (11 and 17 y/o), I can focus on my goals. My 17 y/o will start college in Fall 09, and I pray that I have been a good role model for her.....showing her how important it is to get an education!
(Although, I do hope she does it all at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hey Fun -- when you were in the ER, did you use some form to track things? You know we have those forms we normally use in med/surg (the ones with the vitals, meds and times, dx, allergies ... stuff like that), but they seem like they won't let us keep track of what we need in the ER. I hope you know what forms I am talking about. I cannot seem to think of what they are called, so it makes it hard to try to Google for examples
