El Centro College Spring 2019

Published

Hi guys,

i wanted to make a forum for all of the 2019 applicants. I wanted to know what everybody was going to apply with and if they knew anything about the school still being in academic probation? Also does anybody know if the school accepts the Hep A and Hep B shows that are 1 month apart?

Hello everyone!!! Just wanted to let you guys know that El Centro is TRASH! Run! I can't speak for their LVN program but I speak for their RN program they don't teach at El Centro, they use the Hesi as a pass or fail every single semester in an attempt to boost their NCLEX scores. The instructors talk to the students like dogs. They have discouraged so many students from wanting become nurses. If you have got into Grayson, TCC, Brookhaven, or Mountain please accept your seat there instead! The Dean is the devil, and she will lie to your face. Please pick another school.

Could you give a bit more detail as to why it's not good? Is it the way classes are set up? Not enough hands on experience?

So in other words if you don't make a certain score on the hesi, you fail out of the entire program? Did you make it through the program?

Yes. I failed HESI by one question.

So do you feel they do not properly prepare students for the hesi?

So does the HESI act like an end of semester exam for the ADN program at El Centro? At the end of each semester you take the HESI and if you fail, then that's it and you're done in the program? What's considered passing in this case? At least 80 in each section? Also, were you made aware if this at the beginning of the program? Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just curious and a little wary. Do the instructors teach you the material in a useful/understanding manner?

Yes, that's what the hesi basically is. I did not know it was pass or fail now. So what is the number to pass? Is it still at 800 or higher? Also, is it basically a self teach curriculm and you take the hesi at the end of the semester to determine if you pass?

I've heard bad things about the program in the past but I decided to still give it a try but now that I am hearing negative things again it makes me Leery about the program

I will still give it a try also even though the negative info makes me nervous. No school is perfect I learned that during my lvn program.

Do you guys have any updates on the current number of applicants for the Lvn to rn program?

I haven't heard anything since being told 65 applicants. I wonder how many were part of the fall applicants who recieved their letters already. I may email and ask for an updated number.

Applicants for Fall 2018 have not received an "acceptance" or denial letter for the Spring of 2019. I just got a letter saying that the letters would be sent on October 31st.
