El Camino Nursing Program Fall 2018

Published

Hi guys!

I just wanted to start a conversation with anyone who is also applying for fall semester at El Camino College. I currently applied Torrance's campus. Anyone else?

I have somewhere between 53-55 points before TEAS. I was wondering what I need to get on TEAS in order to be accepted?

Also please comment with any updates. I haven't gotten a e-mail about the TEAS invitation yet.

Got an e-mail back with the attachment!

Same, happy studying!!! :bookworm:

The reading was the hardest section.. just make sure to keep track of your time.

I studied for 3 weeks mostly from Yellow Momentrix book & ATI manual which was very helpful especially for math & science.

Got an invite for the TEAS as well! April 24th, so nervous. Good luck to us all!

I'm feeling so overwhelmed with science! í ½í¸“

Hope it went well today, let us know!

Hi guys! I scored an 86% :) Hopefully that's competitive enough to get me in! Good luck to you guys this Friday!

Congrats! Do you mind giving us all the details? How was the exam? Hardest section? Tips? How was the testing center? Thanks in advance :)

Hi!

Sure! I used ATI study manual (as a study guide), mometrix book, khan academy videos (for science), Brandon Craft videos (for math).

So for reading make sure you understand what they are asking when asking for main idea, supporting detail, conclusion, inference, etc. I love to read and feel I have good comprehension skills but I kept getting a lot of these wrong on my practice tests.

Math: it's pretty basic algebra and some common/basic geometry (rec, triangle, circle) everything is fair play in the exam. Make sure you understand proportions and are able to convert between the metric system (Kilo, deca,...milli).

Science: is probably the most challenging for people, it was the easiest for me only because I studied each 11 systems, some basic chem (mometrix science video on youtube) and some life science. I did skim over the reproductive and urinary and those were the ones that stumped me on the test :(.

English was the most challenging for me, I read the the English portion on the mometrix book and did some problems, it improved my score tremendously. It's mostly the subject-verb agreement, understanding the proper use of a comma, semicolon, which seems easy, but simply being literate is not enough. If you want to go the extra mile, I recommend printing out some high school worksheets and getting some practice.

I was definitely more nervous than I should have been, I took it at Compton College and the proctor was so awesome, she understood that we were all nervous. I left everything in my car, just took my id and two number two pencils, but there were some girls that had purses with them and had to leave them on the side of the room.

Make sure you get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast. I slept only 2-ish hours! I just couldn't sleep and started getting a headache. Also, if you can, I definitely recommend taking the practice tests on the ATI website, they really help familiarize you with the content of the test. There's also someone that posted on here who scored a 97.3, he lists the subjects he remembered from the test, I printed that out and used it as a checklist. I just wish I would have started studying much sooner than I did :/.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, ask away! :)

At long last it is over! I got a 90.7%, didn't review my answers afterwards but surprisingly my lowest score was in science, cursed histology! How'd you do Cindy??

Awesome!! Congrats! That's an awesome score!

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you! I honestly didn't do as well as I hoped for :/ I made my "target goal" but not my dream goal. English messed me up pretty bad. I'm at 65 points now, I just hope it's enough for the program!
