Hi Everyone!
I work in a family practice office and we are expected to do ekg's. I understand how to put on the leads, etc. But what I'd like to know is WHEN to press the "analyze" or "record" button? Basically I'm standing there looking at the computer asking the patient to be still and ready to hit "record" so I can print it off for the doctor. But it's been so long since I learned about ekg interpretation that I'm not sure what I'm looking for before recording. Any hints or tips are appreciated!

Look for a nice smooth reading, if it is jumping up and down all over it is too much artifact. Just think of the ekgs you've seen, and ask yourself if this looks a smooth as those.
