Edison State College Applying for 2010

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello,

I would like to know who is applying to the Edison State College(lee or collier campus) Fall or Summer program for 2010.

And has anyone taken the HESI exam? if so, how was it.

Also, I would like to know how competitive the Basic program is, and any other information will be appreciated.

Again this for the BASIC Nursing program, Thanks :D

The lowest score for lee campus was an 89 or 90. I asked and thats what they said. They also said they would be calling all week, and they usually call in the evenings, so you still have a chance. Just call ****** *********, she answers and shes handling all the accepties for all the schools. Her number is online under Nursing.

thanks i've been calling the collier office because that was my first choice but they don't answer.

rm0609,

I was really excited to start the program in May. It has been going well and it is actually pretty easy. The two classes only total up to 3 credit hours. Most of the work for Intro to Nursing is done as a group (at least it is in our class). We have weekly quizzes but they are taken at home online and we get two attempts for each quiz. I was worried about the midterm but it was much easier than I expected and I way overstudied! We have Prof. **********. I think you will have Prof. ***********. I don't know anything about her. Prof. ****** teaches Intro to Pharm and that too is pretty easy. We only have classes one day a week so I'm actually kind of bored b/c I like to be busy. I'm trying to enjoy my free time now b/c I think next semester will be really intense

I heard that about 380 people total applied to the 3 campuses. Congrats on being accepted!

ok ive called all the offices and no one answers. this year must have been really competive because if an 85 didn't get into collier, the cutoff score must of been way to high. i guess ill try next summer :(

rprado,

I thought I had 93 points and I actually ended up having 88 points. I got into the Lee day program. I emailed and someone called me back to discuss my points with me...could you have miscalculated your points? I had miscalculated my GPA. I had a 3.39 GPA on the 8 required classes (13 points), a 93 on the HESI (50 points), and all 8 co-reqs and pre-reqs completed (25 points). I was trying for the evening program and missed it by TWO points. The cut off was 90.

  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.

the best to all of you! thank you for your cooperation.

Brandimr,

You are lucky you got into the Lee program! I had 88 points and I didn't get in! I have to drive an hour and a half to Collier. I'm not really looking forward to that one because I'm going to have to drive my son to his babysitters really early, but I'm not going to wait another year to get into the program either. I'm so excited for this to start, I wish it was the second semester already so we could start doing clinicals, lol. I'm ready to start doing work! Waiting for the welcome packet is driving me just as crazy as waiting to hear back from them on getting in!

I don't think i miscalculated my points. i had a 89 on my hesi(45), 7 of prereq's done(22), and my GPA is an 3.608(18) which equals 85 points total. i just think the cutoff off score was really high due to all the applicants.
