Hello friends, this is my first post
I am planing to join for ECU AE program, i have couple of question, i really appreciate if any one answer me
1. According to their website, we must have at least 1 year of clinical experience before entering to 2nd phase, in any way school will help me getting those experience or it is by ourself. If it is by ourself how much difficult to get that experience.
2.When do they need GRE score, i mean before entering to 2nd phase or at the time of admission and what is the best score needed to increase my chances.
I really appreciate if any one answer me.

Hi, I was planning on entering the very class you are planning to enter and went to an information session last summer. Unfortunately, due to the sheer intensity of the program and the need for me to work I am going to do an ADN program (and then do ADN-MSN, or ADN-BSN-MSN), just slightly longer this route but I start much sooner so it evens out---plus it's cheaper.
Anyways, the clinical experiences are set up by the program. They allow your input on *where* you want to go, giving consideration for those students who travel, but you are pretty much assigned. Some of the hospitals include Craven Regional (in New Bern), Ahoskie, and PCMH itself.
The GREs are REQUIRED for admission. I would say a competitive score is anything over 1000, I believe the AVERAGE GRE for the grad school is around 900 so, and this is speculation, I would assume the AE Nursing program would be higher. It is very competitive... I want to say it's acceptance rate is roughly 30-35%. So the better you do, the better off you'll be. Also, As and Bs in every pre-req is a must, with more As than Bs.
Sadly, I am confident I would have been more than competitive but I need to work full-time and that is just not compatible with the time required for the program. I understand it is very intense and almost impossible to work at all, much less full-time. Students of the program have called it a "whirlwind," and it's not difficult to imagine as 2 years of Nursing are compacted into 1---and a lot of students struggle to keep their heads above water with 2-year programs (BSN or ADN).
Thanks Adams Mommy, sorry for replying late. I also came to know the program is hard but i am planning to give a shot. Do they pay when we are gaining experience or not and also did u evaluate your transcript at the information session, i read from the previous post they evaluate our transcript and let us know what is the chances to get an admission. Again thanks for replying

I did not get my transcripts evaluated but I have As in all but one of the pre-reqs which I got a B+ in the other one. They do allow you to send in your transcripts (or leave them at the information session) to make sure you meet all the pre-req requirements, but this is the first I've heard of them actually giving people their chances for admission at a transcript review. As far as I know they do not pay your for your clinical experiences. That would be great if they did though!!! It still wouldn't change anything for me though because I need my health insurance for myself and my son. Have you gone to one of the sessions or are you planning on it? They give you the actual course schedule for the program and the actual amount of time required for clinical hours. I may still have the sheet provided to me ----I will take some time to look for it later today and let you know.
Thanks again, no i am planning to attend this Friday. Do you recommend me to attend because i have to drive all the way from Durham.

I'm currently in the program...and no they do not pay you during clinicals.
Thanks GoECU, I have some question regarding the Pre requisite, yesterday i talked to the office secretary, about registration to the pre requisite, she told before registration to the class u have to evalute your transcript, so i faxed my transcript, then i called her again and asked, what is the next step. She told me they will call, once they evalute your transcript. Do you know how long they take to evalute. Thanks again.
I'm not sure how long it took. What I would do is contact ***. She is a nursing advisor at ECU and she will be able to answer all your questions on this matter. She was a big help to me in the applying process.
