I couldn't find anything on here, so I figured I'd post a thread. Anyone applying to the ECPI Accelerated BSN program starting July 2017?
Also, has anyone heard much about the reputation of the school?
Woow thank you, I'm planning to start July 2018 at ECPI , and i will like more information about books and studying ... I know you must be busy right now.... but when you free can you please email me the name of books used at the first quarter, so I can buy then and start reading now my email is. [email protected] , I will really appreciate that .....i also have questions about housing , I will be moving in from another state ....thanks and good luck, you almost there
Natou11, the school provides all books so there is no reason to purchase ahead of time. Plus, none of the instructors go in the order of the chapters, they all work together so each class is covering similar content at the same time.
There is no onsite housing, the school is actually located in an office complex. There are a lot of apartments in the area, I know some in the Jan 18 class found each other through this site. Keep in mind that the clinical rotations are given out by drawing numbers and those close to the school (2-3) quickly fill up. Most of the others are a good 20 miles + away from the school. Since you'll be at the school less and less each quarter, you might want to look at an area in between the school (Lake Mary) and downtown, this will give you easy access to most clinical sites (BTW- some of the clinicals start at 6am). I'd suggest Winter Park, Edgewater, Maitland....just don't live south/west of downtown.
Hope this helps!
All of your information is very helpful! I am applying to the July 2018 program as well. I am very excited to get started (as long as I get accepted). I am curious though; how many people have not made it to the third quarter that started with your cohort? I am very determined and I am 100% sure this is what I want to do so failure is not an option lol. I live about an hour away from Lake Mary, are most Clinical's downtown? This is completely random but does the program allow smart watches? It sounds silly but I was going to purchase one but didn't really want to if I wont be able to use it for a year. Thank you for all of your information!
AshleyJordan, you will need a watch that has a second hand. Smart watches need to be removed for exams but are allowed in the hospital as long as the face has a second hand and not a "timer".
The first quarter's clinicals (which is only 6 Fridays from 6-3:30) are held at Fish, South Seminole, Alt FL Hosp, Downtown FL Hosp and ORMC, and Dr Phillips. They way they choose clinicals is by drawing--everyone has a ticket with a number, and when your number is called, you can chose your site. The locations close to the school fill up quick. From what I understand, you will be in clinicals more than at the school after the first quarter. I'm not sure where you live, but if you are moving here, I'd suggest Winter Park/Maitland, somewhere close to I4. That way you have an easy ride to school and are close to most of the clinical sites.

I am currently in my third quarter here! Yes this program is very difficult, but it is an accelerated 12 month program so what do you expect. You have to be willing to dedicate most of your time to studying and doing school work. The professors are great for the most part, just do the work. You can't expect them to give you an A just because you are paying to be in school. Not everyone is cut out for the difficulty of the program, so make sure this is really what you want to do before you apply. I believe the first quarter is definitely the hardest (it is nonstop work) but it helps weed out the people who aren't prepared. We have a great reputation at the hospitals around here and getting a job before graduation is not a problem.
