Any ecig or vape containing propylene glycol causes positive urine for alcohol . just happened to me!!!! I had no idea. I'm always careful with what I eat and things. Never expected this when I bought one.

urine alcohol or etg positive? Urine alcohol can be caused by diabetes
I'm sorry etg. But I found out it's not the PG that causes the etg positive that there is actual alcohol for flavoring in those things.
True. A lot of liquid flavoring has etoh.
This really has me freaked out. I thought I was being careful and I'm not. I found other things in our fridge I shouldn't be consuming. I could kick myself.

Don't kick yourself too hard. I've seen plenty of those "substances to avoid" lists, on here and in my own monitoring program, and not one of them lists E cigs as a possible source of incidental exposure to alcohol. It's everywhere. The best we can do is be fully aware of what is on the lists and do the best we can to avoid them.

That is very useful information. I'll discard my vaping. This worry about incidental exposure to alcohol is maddening. The program has me very paranoid. I certainly haven't drank or drugged but I live in worry about ingesting something that has alcohol or something else in it that I have no way of knowing is there. I was trying to quit smoking (a bad habit restarted in rehab) but I guess I'll have to limit myself to one battle at a time. I bough a pack of smokes yesterday and will pray that I don't have a random drug & alcohol test for a while. I'm very sorry for your misfortune. I don't know what your program is like but in ours there is a presumption of guilt. I wish you all the luck in the world

It has always made me laugh that a program that screeches recovery from addiction and how 12 step is the way to go has absolutely no issue with encouraging people to smoke, which is addiction, is it not? Every. Single. Whatever. Anonymous meeting I've ever gone to involved wading through a cloud of cigarette smoke to get to the door.
Addiction to alcohol- bad, OK
Addiction to drugs- bad, OK
Addiction to nicotine- not a problem, smoke 'em if ya got 'em
Caffeine-- ahh...touch my coffee, I will cut you....

I used vaping to quit smoking early this year. I had the forethought to call ahead to my monitoring company. They had to ask their MRO, but they did confirm that it could cause a positive ETOH screen. I used alcohol-free vape juice from one company, as well as Max VG juice from another. (I can't remember if the TOS would prohibit "advertisement" so I left the companies out!). I vaped for about two months and tested several times during that period, and had no issues. It was a good thing too! My first job back in nursing required a pre-employment nicotine screen! Wouldn't that have sucked? To work so dang hard to find a job, FINALLY find one, and then end up not getting hired because I had smoked a cigarette?! Ugh, 41 months left. *eyeroll*

Cigarettes are the baby blanket of recovery it seems.
