EC application to enrollment

Ok, so I submitted my application to Excelsior ($75 fee & all), and mailed my transcripts and copy of nursing licensed to Excelsior, now what? Do they contact me when they have recieved and evaluated my transcripts? Do they contact you through email or do they actually call you? Or is it that I have to periodically check back with them? The big question is how long does it take for them to review your transcripts and get you actually enrolled? I'm tired of waiting, but don't want to badger them either......How long did it take you from application to enrollment?

you mailed your transcripts? i thought it has to come from the school for it to be official?

i think it takes 3-4 weeks to evaluate transcripts. while you are waiting, you can take the health safety and/or transitions exams. you can take these two before enrolling, which you should do so that your annual tuition does not kick in after those two exams because it can potentially save you $$.

have you created a profile in excelsior's website yet? http://www.excelsior.edu

if so, you can find the content guide for each exam from the "publications" page.

yes, I sent my transcripts myself, but they were in a sealed envelope from my previous school marked "official transcripts"...I never opened the envelopes, I only mailed them. Do I have to take the gen eds before taking the nursing core classes? I'm pretty sure that my previous gen eds won't transfer due to the accredidation of my previous school. Yes, I have created a profile on the EC website.

I think it took them about 4 or 6 weeks for me (sorry, it's been a while), but some of my transcripts had to come from Germany, so that took extra time.

Just FYI, you don't have to pay the enrollment fee ($895) until you're ready to take the third nursing exam (Chronicity). When you pay that enrollment fee, it starts the clock ticking toward your student services annual fee being due ($440). It might save you some money to do as many gen ed courses and the first nursing exam (you can waive the second as an LPN). I've also heard you can do Transitions now before enrolling as well. Good luck!! :)

unfortunately I think I have to actually be enrolled to put my current student loans into in school deferment....& that will help me tremendously as they aren't cheap! Otherwise I would wait to enroll..

Aha, I see! :) That makes sense. I enrolled before I did any exams -- just trying to help others not waste $440 like I did! LOL
