The textbook that I was assigned is WAY over my head [Medical-Surgical Nursing by Lewis, Heitkemper, Dirksen, O'Brien, and Bucher]. Do you recommend any book in particular that can help me understand some of these concepts better? I've tried NCLEX review books, and while those are a little helpful, they are a little too vague. I'm looking for something detailed but written in plainer language. Thanks!

My whole class felt that way about that book at first. First thing i want to tell you is that you will get used to its style. Dont worry too much. secondly, that book has AWESOME online resources. Including audio and text key points and quizzes. I always listen to the key points first, then read the chapter. that helps to let you know what you are about to read and the format you are about to read it in. They are usually less than 10 min long. I hesitate to say to use another book instead. you never know what you might miss. people would probably disagree with me on that though. good luck!
