Anybody out there plan on applying? I applied last year and didn't get in so I'm reapplying this year.
Hello. :)
They do accept transfer students but it's a lot harder to get into the program as a transfer. I applied last year with a 4.0 and didn't get in because all of my classes except MATH 110 were transfers. I had 433 points and I was on the alternate list. I don't want to discourage you but it IS very difficult to get into EMU if you didn't take your prereq classes there.
Hello all,
I see many of you have been applying or re-applying to EMU's program so I thought I'd share a couple pieces of info. (By the way I am no longer a student at EMU. I'm now in a nursing program at another university, as I was rejected from EMU's program twice, but I attended EMU for 2 years and have no bad regards towards the school. I loved my time there.) The points cutoff is usually around 435. Both times around I missed the cutoff by 5 points or less. I STRONGLY encourage you to get the 6 months paid healthcare experience, as those points could be the difference between making it in and not making it in. In my case, having the healthcare experience would've gotten me in both times. Other than that, retake any classes that you have less than a B in. Another word of advice I have is to never give up no matter how many times you get denied. If you have a passion for healthcare, stick with it. It also doesn't hurt to explore programs at other universities and see what they have to offer if you are struggling to get accepted into the EMU program. Like they say, sometimes it's best to not put all your eggs in one basket. Other than that, I wish you all the best and good luck to you all!
Thank you for that! I have health care experience but I am missing some points for not taking classes here at EMU. I am working on applying to other colleges and will sign up to retake other classes in the fall if it doesn't happen! But man, I really really hope it does because it will just be a whole year of sitting and waiting to apply. But I will not give up! I hope everything is going well for you and I can't thank you enough for the kind words.

Last year I had 418 points and I figured I wasn't getting in. I took dual-enrolled classes in high school, so that's why my points were so low. This year I ended up retaking about 4 classes to get more points. I should end up with 450-460. Somewhere around there. I also plan to apply to OU's nursing school.
