Eastern Florida State College Melbourne Spring 2017

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm making this post for anyone who is applying to the Melbourne(formerly Palm Bay) spring 2017 nursing program. Just listing for general talk about scores, advice, and what have you. I'm taking my TEAS the 10th, and have a point total of 34. Looking forward to your comments.

So here's what I know so far in case anyone else runs into any questions;

1. The certified background check website is actually castlebranch.com and the site is an awesome way to keep up with everything.

2. I could not locate my documentation about immunizations from any of the recommended sources, so my doctor wrote me lab work orders for titer tests. I went to quest diagnostics with it and it cost $160 bucks.

3. The price you pay for castlebranch includes the cost of the urine test and the finger printing. I went to the UPS store in Vero and they were cool. It took about 10 minutes total.

4. All Uniform Wear on 192 was a great experience. Ignore there yelp reviews, there was two younger workers there who were extremely helpful and friendly. I found they were low on sizes for the navy scrubs so I ordered some from inside the store once I tried on and found a size. They also have the patches too but they don't put the patches on for you.

5. I hand delivered my acceptance packet to Barbara Hartman on the third floor of the Palm Bay campus. I wasn't going to risk mailing it! My wife signed as my witness.

6. In the packet there's a page that asks for emergency contact info and asks about your placement. You don't have to fill that out because you aren't placed yet.

7. According to the class list, classes start January 9th or the 10th if that's the Tuesday.

I started a Facebook group if anyone is interested. It might be a little bit easier to communicate that way and we can use it throughout the program to help each other out :) just search EFSC Nursing Spring 2017

Can anybody tell me the orientation date, time, and location?

Hey everyone. So I'll be starting nursing school in January. I finished everything in castlebranch. My only concern is that its been 3 weeks since I've completed my fingerprints and it still shows the 3rd step as incomplete. I'm starting to worry that the school didn't receive my fingerprints for whatever reason. I plan on calling the school Monday to make sure everything is as it should be, but I was just curious if anyone else had this same issue in the meantime.

Thanks.

My third step still says incomplete and I asked another student, there's does too. I think it's just pending school administrator review which they'll probably do after the deadline.

Alright, so it's probably normal. That's a relief. I'll still call the Monday morning just in case.

In regards to the background check, mine says incomplete as well. I figure it will until the end of the week. Does anyone understand the schedule for January? I see we were signed up for multiple course times. I'm assuming it's for when we have lab on some weeks? I'm sure it'll be explained on Wednesday in further detail.
