If you read many of the threads on this site.. so many people are struggling finding jobs right now.. if you really need the money take any job available to you now (that will work around school)! It's very difficult to get in at hospitals right now.. I currently have my CNA but it hasn't gotten me in ..plus the fact that most hospitals want PCT's and EXPERIENCE!! There are earn as you learn programs but you have to find out what's expected of that hospital and do everything needed to get in (job fairs, interviews).. it's kind of the it's who you know.. thing! If your really wanting to start at the bottom I'd say getting your CNA is the first step. Good Luck!!
For the earn as you learn program- thru baycare...they do their education with SPC for the RN program. You need to get all of the general education and nursing support corses done at SPC and definetly meet with a nursing advisor. You also need to keep on checking the EAYL phone number and keep checking for job fair dates and stuff. You need to have all the stuff done before you can apply for the EAYL RN program. Go to the website for more details about their program http://www.baycare.org/workfiles/jobs/rn-info.pdf
Good luck to you!!!! :)

Hi. I just want to say that I am new to this board and hope to be as helpful as you all regarding new RN students. I am still very new to all of this and seek out advice from the experts or those who have gone before me.
I have not entered into the program just yet. I only have 3 more classes to go. My grades are excellent.
I am wanting to get into Nursing (RN) ---> Then Pediatric Critical Care Nursing ---> and eventually BA.
I need a job in the meantime. I was wondering about the Earn as you Learn. I will scrub toilets if I have to. I don't care. I am an extremely awesome employee and have an attitude of gratitude.
Do you all have any suggestions for someone willing to start from the bottom and learn?
I am a sponge.
Kindly,
Future Nurse Willing to Learn EVERYTHING.
