What are the duties of a certified medication aide in a nursing home?

It would depend on what state and institution you would practice in, as this can vary a lot.
I would check with the Board of Nursing or Department of Health for your state and the nursing home(s) at which you are considering becoming employed. Good luck.

My experience has been that they pass routine medications, and take vital signs. They may give prn meds with permission of the nurse (LPN or RN). They chart in the chart. They do NOT give injections or tube feeds, or meds per g/ng-tube.

My personal opinion is that med aids are not safe practice. Knowing how hard it was to become a nurse, I would not want to risk my license by letting an unlicensed person pass my meds. No offense I was a CNA for 7 years , so I have been on that side of the fence.
