Hello all, anyone on here a grad from DCC? Where are you know? I was curious if anyone got into Vassar, St Francis or Westchester Medical as a new grad??
I am open to talking to any current students too-could use some study buddies!

I graduated from DCC in January of 2007. My classmates did not have any difficulty finding a job at any one of those places. I myself moved down to Long Island and didn't have a problem at all finding a job as a new grad. Try contacting the nursing recruiter at the hospital you're interested in because the new grad programs at St. Francis and Vassar Brothers have application cut-off dates.
Good Luck!
Hi, and thanks so much for replying to me. I am so excited..I already have an AS from Dutchess in General Studies so now I decided that Nursing is what I want to do. I am 30 now and have a toddler at home with me, so I know its going to be rough but I can do it!!
I am so glad those hospitals do have new grad programs! I thought I was going to have to travel to the city, which I wouldn't consider until my kids were much older :)
Do you mind me asking how long it took you to complete the program and is it as hard as I can imagine it to be? Did you wait long for your clinicals to start. All I have left is Ant & Phy I & II and Microbiology and then I can start the Nursing portion.
You seem happy and I hear the program is great, so I am excited about my decision. Thanks a million :)
It took me 3 and a half years to complete the program. I was a part time evening student and I worked full time during the day. I was able to start my clinicals the semester after I completed microbiology. Yes, it's difficult, but not impossible. You just really need to spent the time and effort required. You can't really "half-ass" the program so to speak, it takes a real commitment to get the most out of it. My advice is to find some good friends in class. They become a huge support system as time goes on. I don't know what I would have done without my nursing school girls.
