Duquesne University Accelerated Nursing Program class of 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

I just got the wonderful news that I was accepted into Duquense's accelerated program yesterday!!! It was my first choice so I am rather excited. I start August of 2014! Anyone been through the program that can offer any advice? Anyone else applied or recently got accepted? I would love to see who my future classmates are : )

For those that got accepted to Duquesne, when did you apply and how long was the waiting time until you heard back? I am in the process of waiting for my decision and I think it is taking a bit too long... Also, does anyone know how much students they accept annually?

Hi! I just got my acceptance letter as well contingent upon completion of 1 pre-req (that hopefully I can CLEP out of!) Do you live in the pittsburgh area?

My daughter is in the 2015 class at Duquesne University's accelerated nursing program.

DO NOT CONSIDER THIS PROGRAM.

Poor curriculum, inept teachers, led by an incompetent Dean.

You will be required to achieve a 925 on the Hesi exam (825 to 900 is required by all other schools) in order to graduate.

You will be ill prepared to achieve this high of a standard.

Within the class of 2015, on their first attempt at the Hesi, 70% of the students failed.

The dean should be fired for her leadership of this program.

Shameful!

My daughter is in your class. I have followed these issues closely:

Class size was misrepresented. We thought it would be 50 students.

Hesi standard is absurd. 925?

Class prep content is poor and instructors are inept.

She is taking the Hesi again tomorrow.

The one year accelerated program tuition at duquesne university actually cost over $60,000 including a summer semester of 21 credits.(they don't tell you that neither is it listed on the tuition sheet) I thought you should know that before making a decision. As to expectation, its a 4yr program compressed into 1yr, so be really prepared to study and get stuff done. its really intensive so tune your mind towards that, but people have done it so you should be able to do it. the good thing is that, if you fail one class you can retake and finish the program another semester.

Goodluck.
