How hard is it to find a job as a new grad in Duluth? I am graduating with my BSN in May and was thinking about moving there from St. Louis. My wife is from there originally and she kind of wants to move back. I'm sick of sweltering heat and mild winters in Missouri and I am totally willing to move. Also, which hospital/hospitals are the best to work for around there. Thanks...

I too would like to know about RN employment in the Duluth area -Cloquet, Moose Lake and of course Duluth and it's close neighboring towns.

We live in the Chicago area but would love to relocate to this beautiful and less insane area.

Any info. would be appreciated.

Specializes in LTC, med/surg, oncology, cardiac.

Duluth is a dying community along with Superior! I grew up there and moved away. IF you love fog, cold weather, and the cold wind off of Lake Superior then it is for you. More opportunities await in the twin cities, and a bit warmer weather too.......5-10 degrees warmer. Population 10-20 years ago was well over 100k, and now it is down in the 80k, people are moving away because there are NO jobs other than health care related. I used to work at SMDC which was a good hospital so that is my only advice as to where to work if you decide to move there. If you live in the cities you are only a couple hour drive to Duluth. It is a nice place to visit, but not to live. Many low income families, duluth alone is no longer safe to live in esp on the hill side between 24th ave east all the way through 24th ave west. Superior you would want to stay south of 24th-28th ave, bar town a lot of drinkers and it is a college town.

This is only my advice/opinion since I lived there all of my life up until a few years ago. I can say I am 100% happier living in the cities area than up north.

Good luck to you in your future move! :yeah:
