Duke University ABSN Fall 2013

Hey everyone! I submitted my application to Duke University's ABSN program for fall 2013 a few weeks ago, so I wanted to get some conversation started! Is anyone else applying?!

Oh my gosh - thanks so much! I hadn't heard about the loan repayment option but that sounds really great and I will definitely look into it! Do you know if that's something that you need to apply to? 100% tuition would be a dream come true haha..I'm just starting to get nervous about paying for Duke if I am accepted! I worked this past year but won't be working next year and im pretty sure the FAFSA doesn't take that into account : /

It doesn't look like there's an application process, but that surprises me. I totally understand about the financial aid thing...our salary for last year wouldn't apply when we're unemployed students. I buy a Megamillions ticket every week. Ha ha.

It sounds like they pick you. I've never really looked into that scholarship, but I think the chances of me getting it are pretty slim haha! I did see that they have small need-based scholarships offered to students based on their financial need though... it says it could be up to $9000 towards tuition, and that you would be award 25% of the award each semester. So the amount varies!

Also.... I'm starting to panic. I've been obsessively calculating and recalculating my GPA over and over again, and looking over my resume and essays. I'm a mess! I can't believe we have to wait 3 more days! Do you guys think they'll email us at the end of the day or in the morning? I'm not sure what they've typically done in the past...

I hope they let us know about interviews early on the 30th. This is the only other school that I'm really excited to hear back from that I haven't yet! Did you guys apply to other programs?

I applied to Johns Hopkins, Marquette, UPenn, and NYU besides Duke. I'm still waiting to hear from every school I've applied to. How about you?

I applied to JHU, UPENN, Duke, Simmons, and MGH. My top two are MGH and Duke and I was already accepted to MGH so I'm just waiting to hear from Duke! Unfortunately, I think it will come down to cost if there's a significant difference.

Have you interviewed at JHU or Penn yet? Congratulations on MGH!

Yes, I interviewed at JHU and I had a phone interview at UPENN. I think that UPENN is definitely out of the question for me due to cost.

Have you interviewed anywhere yet? I've never actually been to UPENN either or Philadelphia for that matter haha. They could only give me a phone interview. Is Duke your top choice?

I'm only applying to Duke and Georgetown. I'm a bit more limited to where I can apply because I took my prerequisite courses over five years ago, and not many schools allow that. I don't want to re-take those! I also needed to apply to schools that are linked to hospitals that would offer tuition reimbursement. That's awesome you were interviewed by those other great schools! If I'm asked to interview for Duke, I'll drive there. It's about 4 1/2 hours away. I really don't like interviewing on the phone. I get much more nervous! Three more days....aughhhhh!
