Duke MSN Fall 2016

Published

Hi! Wondering if anyone else applied to Duke's online MSN program? I applied for the AGNP track. Thought we could go through the gruesome wait process together :)

Totally agree on that! Everything I've read on here makes it seem near impossible to get accepted to MSN programs... :( I'm so so nervous...

But it if I had to choose a #1 it would be UNC Charlotte. I'm a bit nervous to do an online program and feel I may do better in-person which Charlotte would be. I would have to relocate but my family is down there so it wouldn't be the worst relocation! I just sent my application in today...eek!

I also want to teach or be a clinical instructor eventually...do you think the name is very important for teaching eventually - even with years of experience and references?! I wasn't even thinking of that....I went to a small liberal arts school for BSN and got my dream job so I was under the impression there's not much to a name anymore...I guess unless that name is Duke... :/

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling the nervousness as well :/

I don't really know how much the school name will matter when taking into consideration experiences and such. But I figured it would only help :)

Yeah, I think taking online nursing classes will be interesting, but relocating isn't an option for me so I didn't have much choice..

Ahhh... Can't wait for us to hear back! :) when will you hear from UNC Charlotte? I submitted my Hopkins app a few days ago as well. Keeping the fingers crossed!

Relocating isn't ideal - but it's the smartest move financially for me so...we'll see. It really all depends where I get in - just hoping for any acceptance, and I'll be happier than every kid on Christmas!

Not sure when I'll hear back honestly - which is nervewracking. I read a thread on here that had people not hearing back until late April/early May! Which seems very late to me? The applications deadline is February 15, so I guess they need more time to interview and whatnot? When will you hear from Hopkins?

Also, have you visited/gone to open houses for all your schools? Do you think there's a real benefit in that - by putting your face/name out there? I'm applying to schools so far from where I live now, I'm unable to do that and am worried that will give me yet another disadvantage...

I have no idea when I'll be hearing back from Hopkins. And it doesn't seem as if there are any other Hopkins applicants here :/

I went to the open house for Hopkins, and attended a webinar for Duke. The Hopkins one was really helpful for me, but I don't know much about it giving me an advantage. I was able to incorporate what I learned and who I met there into my application essay, so I guess we shall see if it helps any :) The Duke one was very informative, but I didn't get as much out of it.

I guess we can only give our all and hope for the best :/

A coworker of mine also interested in MSN programs was telling me how it's actually easier to get accepted to schools that are way up there because not as many people apply to them compared with programs that are more affordable. Hence I'm not even applying to a local school where I could get in-state tuition. I think they get 300-400 applicants for around 30 spots... it's ridiculous... :/

I feel like there's no one on here applying to any of my schools - besides you/Duke! I was under the impression this site had more traffic, but I guess not too many applicants like ourselves.

Thats interesting - makes sense though. My UNC schools have been known to be near impossible to get into for MSN, but the "best" UNC school (Chapel Hill) is not as difficult to get accepted to. At least that's what I heard - but now that actually makes sense!

Been checking my email a little too constantly this week...I feel like a yes/no interview email could come any day...

Has anyone heard anything yet?

Yeah..I thought there'd be more people too! I have yet to meet someone else who applied to Hopkins o.O

boldautumn- Nope, haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully we'll have some news this time next week! :)

Still nothing for me... The email did say "mid-January" so yeah - probably next week!

boldautumn - Have you applied anywhere else? Which program are you applying to? :)

Smilesweet - I haven't applied for any other program at this time. I have applied for the FNP program and Duke is my number one choice. I figured I have some time to get in to a program because I'm living overseas right now.

Hey guys, I applied for the ACNP program at Duke! I too am impatiently waiting :nailbiting:

Just got an email with an interview invitation!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!!! :)

Hope you guys will hear soon as well!!
