Duke - January 2011

I was curious who else applied to Duke for this January. The deadline was April 30th. Now the wait begins!

For Barry...they told me my file was complete and that it went to committee on March 30th.

I know they started reviewing files (DUKE) on Monday. Has anyone heard anything? I was told they were going to do some interviews at the end of May and then in June. I would imagine we would be hearing soon.

I'm still waiting to hear from Barry as well.

On a lighter note though, I now hold my CCRN cert as of a 2 hours ago!!!!!!!!!! I just passed the exam. I'm exhausted!!!!

I applied to Duke as well but dont expect to hear from them until July. According to their website: "Personal interview (by invitation) with members of the Nurse Anesthesia Admissions Committee will be offered to qualified applicants. Applicants selected for interview are usually notified mid to late July via e-mail notification followed by a personal letter. We use e-mail as our primary means of communication; consequently, please ensure your e-mail address is current with the Office of Admissions and Student Services. We do not always follow all e-mail communications with a letter or phone contact; therefore, please select a reliable e-mail provider." Is there information somewhere else on their website that disputes this?

Per (Moderator edit of name) at Duke, they were going to start reviewing apps May 17th and that was changed to the beginning of June.

Last year the deadline was July 1st. It was moved up to May 1st for this year.

Thanks for the update. I hope (as everyone else) to hear from the admissions committee for an interview. Does anyone know the interview process ie single or multiple interviewers, how long, clinical or personal content, clinical exam?

Your welcome. Do you mind sharing your stats...gpa/gre/work experience?

There are several days of interviews. Each candidate has to spend a day there...tour of the facility and info on the school. There are both clinical and non-clinical questions. That's all I know.

7 years nursing with ICU/PACU/PICU/NICU. Currently in FT in PICU and PT/PRN in PACU, gpa science 3.3, nursing 3.9, no GRE since I have a MS-Nursing degree so I would be getting the post masters certificate. If accepted, my plan is to apply for the DNP during the 2nd year. I am also a respiratory therapist (RRT-NPS, RPFT) since 1993 so I hope that will look good to the admissions committee. I am studying for the CCRN and will take it in July.
