Duke CRNA 2021

Published

Hi! Just wanted to start a post for those applying this year to Duke's CRNA program (starting Fall 2021). Who else has applied?

Does anyone have a list of clinical sites that Duke uses? I can't seem to find this information on their website. Thanks in advance!

I believe it is not listed. But im optimistic that theyll probably will include the sites during the orientation

@RNCCRN2013 I just watched the webinar they posted in September 2019 on Youtube and they listed several sites during that. I think she mentioned that this isn’t all of them though

Any tips on interview questions for those that interviewed on the 13th??

thanks!

Wow. All I can say is Wow.

Today I had my interview for the CRNA program... and let me just say what an absolute joke it was. The "panel" seemed way more interested in getting to know me as a person for an entire hour than hearing about my 7+ years of nursing experience with flight nursing sprinkled in. They didn't even seem to care that I'm a CVICU nurse as well as a quality initiative nurse, which for you non-CVICU nurses means that I probably know about ten times as much about swans and vasopressors as anyone on that admissions panel, let alone my knowledge of foleys and dependent loops.

And yet... they barely even scratched the surface of the clinical questions. Even more baffling, they could barely come up with a coherent answer when I asked the easiest way to become class president and be elected as a leader and mentor for the rest of the normal and underachieving students.

Oh well. I guess I'll wait for the acceptance letter and might just send back a few pointers on how to conduct an interview when I accept.

Wow... I’m really sorry you weren’t able to unleash your knowledge of dependent loops on them. I really hope that if I end up at the same school as you, your superiority complex doesn’t bother me as much as this comment did! But I will say thank you for letting us know how your interview went ?

@justtryingtohelp

You’re trying to joke right? Because there is no way that you could be serious with that post ?????

Best of luck to those off y'all that interviewed yesterday. Wish we could have had a chance to really meet and commiserate ?.

@justtryingtohelp

It's hard to gauge whether or not this is a joke or not.  That said, you sound really frustrated.  I bet anyone of the students we spoke to yesterday would be happy to give you some guidance if you wanted to vent with someone.  Did you catch their emails?  If not, or if you want to vent with someone not in the program you can always PM me here and we can swap contacts.

That said, I'm sorry yesterday didn't go as you expected.  This is an incredibly stressful time for all of us.

Mirroring what @Redd.CCRN said. It is definitely a stressful time for all. I understand your frustration with their interview process -  I know my interview did not go as I had imagined/hoped/expected. Please feel free to PM me.

The nerve of the "panel" to not ask you about pressors or dependent loops!? I'm appalled. You're right, I doubt they have any cognizance of what those things are. To think they'd rather just get to know you, instead of asking about your flight nursing experience. The nerve!

Duke is so lucky to have you in their program...ESPECIALLY your classmates. I solute you Mr. class President.
