Duke ABSN

U.S.A. North Carolina

I know there has been a long thread of people discussing admission for 09 into Duke's ABSN program. Can anyone tell me some concrete things that are being evaluated. I'm planning on applying for Spring of 2010 and am very nervous and wanted to know if I had a shot. My scores and activities are nothing earth-shattering, however I'm going to give it a try either way. I live in Durham and want to go to school, fortunately and unfortunately, the schools around here aren't a walk in the park....

3.7 BA - with 2 science/math classes

Do I have any chance??

Thanks momofthreeboys! Me too... I hope we both make it to the Duke Days. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!

I havent been keeping up lately (finals and bronchitis). Did I miss anything?

Are you ladies planning on flying out for Duke Days?

Prinkipissa--I'm also in California. I'm thinking of just doing the phone interview, although I'd feel like I'm missing out a bit. I also hope a phone interview isnt a disadvantage. I always chose in-person interviews. So far, I just cant afford to fly out.

Anyway, I've been told that the GRE score ranges from 950 to 1400. With 1000-1150 being the average. Like SFChef has mentioned, as long as you get above 1000, youre good to go.

I'll post when I get news. Much good luck to us!

If I do get called for an interview, I'm planning to just go in person (I need to visit my husband anyway :D and i really want to spend as much time with him as possible since he's deploying on august) but it's really expensive so i regularly check flights in hopes of getting a deal.

I don't think doing the phone interview would be a disadvantage per se; but I was just thinking that there are certain things that couldn't be seen or gauged during a phone interview like body language etc. This isn't always a bad thing, it could be good too! Perhaps being on the phone would give you more confidence because you don't see them looking at you, or something like that :)

best of luck! :) and please keep us posted... hope you feel better! :)

The deadline is tomorrow! The waiting is killing me! :) I am planning on going in person if I get an interview because I live in Raleigh. Good luck everyone. Hope we hear soon.

Thanks :-) Apparently bronchitis takes a while, longer than I had planned.....sigh.

Interviews are being arranged this week, last week, and probably up to next week. I have a phone interview arranged. I think its arranged by how soon you applied (and if your application was reviewed). Good luck ladies! Don't worry, if you applied, you will most likely get an interview.

I have a personal interview July 17th! Good luck everyone! When is everyone else interviewing? Please post if you get accepted!

They called me this morning so I could pick my interview date- they said they would be sending me an interview packet and email soon. The process is supposed to take all day 8:30am -4pm. They gave me a choice between the 17th and 24th.

Oh wow! how exciting! :) good luck! im sure you'll do great! :)

Hi everyone,

This looks like a great place where I can meet potential classmates before the Spring 2010 term begins! I am grateful and lucky enough to know that I will be a part of Duke's Spring 2010 class already.

The first time I applied was for Fall 2008, however I was waitlisted and unfortunately they never made it to my name. I then applied for the second time back in December for the Fall 2009 class and was originally not accepted, then a month later they said they had room on the waitlist if I wanted to be added. At this point I found out I would be having major knee surgery and would've never been able to attend even if I was accepted, so I declined to be waitlisted for Fall 2009 but they said they would keep my application open for Spring 2010. I found out May 21st that I was accepted into the Spring 2010 class, and I was absolutely thrilled beyond belief! I have applied to other schools both times in hopes that more applications would give me a chance of getting accepted somewhere, but Duke was always number one on my list.

I hope that those who applied for Spring 2010 receive offers of admission and we are all able to share in this wonderful experience together!! Oh, and I live in New Hampshire so I definitely have apartment hunting and all that fun stuff ahead of me (as I hope the few people from Cali on here will be doing as well!!)!!

good luck on your interview momofthreeboys! :) i wish you all the best! :)

hi everyone,

I am trying to apply for Duke's ABSN program to start on January 2011, and was wondering if there are any feedbacks regarding application and what they are looking for. I have a BS in Biology, been working full time for 5 years. I took all the prerequisites already, and taking Micro/Lab this spring, along w/ Developmental Psychology. I'm trying to get my GRE scores back, I took it 2 years ago. I don't have alot of volunteer experience, since I've been working full time since I finished by previous degree. I made a B in all of the prerequisites, and will have to retake A&P II (i made a C the first time). Do I have a chance of getting in? I have been emailing w/ Melissa alot and she's been very helpful.

Thanks!!
