  1. Hi everyone! :) Congratulations! Re: Scholarships, i called the financial aid office 2 weeks ago and they said that the results should be out by the week of August 17th but i haven't heard from them since. Would you know if they would be notifying you about the decision even if they won't be granting you a scholarship? I'm really new to this whole financial aid and loan thing. I would really appreciate any advice. I just feel so lost and overwhelmed. Could people actually get away with getting a private loan for the whole cost of attendance? Or is that not advisable? Can't wait to meet all of you! :)
  2. The results are already out... :) You should be getting an email about it or you could check your online application :)
  3. good luck on your interview momofthreeboys! :) i wish you all the best! :)
  4. Oh wow! how exciting! :) good luck! im sure you'll do great! :)
  5. Congratulations! :) how were you informed? :)
  6. If I do get called for an interview, I'm planning to just go in person (I need to visit my husband anyway and i really want to spend as much time with him as possible since he's deploying on august) but it's really expensive so i regularly check flights in hopes of getting a deal. I don't think doing the phone interview would be a disadvantage per se; but I was just thinking that there are certain things that couldn't be seen or gauged during a phone interview like body language etc. This isn't always a bad thing, it could be good too! Perhaps being on the phone would give you more confidence because you don't see them looking at you, or something like that :) best of luck! :) and please keep us posted... hope you feel better! :)
  7. Thanks momofthreeboys! Me too... I hope we both make it to the Duke Days. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!
  8. Thank you so much! Your message definitely made me feel better. I was already disheartened. I've been trying desperately to pull my GRE performance up but with only 3 days left, I don't know what else to do. I'm really praying that I get in the program. It's just perfect for me... the curriculum, graduate units, time, and now that my husband is assigned to fort bragg, the proximity of it. If I get in the program, it means im only an hour or two away from him when he comes back from deployment. (Instead of the 3 hour time difference and 4 hour flights in between us most of our marriage, since I live in California too :) ) I'm so sorry about the family illness... My prayers are with you :) Again, thank you so much and i hope to have the pleasure of meeting you! :) By the way, the Duke Days are on July 10th, 17th and 24th :)
  9. Hi SFChef! I'm new to allnurses.com and i wanted to know more about Duke's ABSN program. I'm getting really anxious because my undergrad grades are not stellar (about 3.6 for a BS in Business Administration) and I'm just about to take the GRE which I had about a week with the flu to prepare for (powerprep results: Verbal 510, Quantitative 670) Based on the stats of your class, do you think I have a chance? thank you so much! :)
  10. Hi! Would anyone mind sharing their GPA and GRE Scores? I just wanted to gauge how selective Duke is and if I have what it takes to get in the program. I'm applying for spring 2010, graduated cum laude from a foreign country, but when it got translated to the American grading, my GPA only came out to 3.45, my prerequisite GPA is 3.75 (statistics kind of ruined it for me since i took that during my 1st bachelors while i took the other courses in California) I have barely started reviewing for the GRE which i am taking in a less than a week. Basically, I took business to make my parents happy. After that, i taught for a few months in two review centers and worked for an NGO who builds houses for the poor and rehabilitates their lives. Now, I think it's about time that I follow my real passion given that I already performed my duty to my parents and did a lot of soul searching. Best of all, being in Duke would mean I could be with my husband after he comes back from deployment :) Thank you so much! :redbeathe and I wish everyone the best of luck! :wink2:
