Thread for the incoming 2019 Duke ABSN applicants so we can help each other out through the application process.

@projext58

Has anyone spoken with the financial aid office? When are we getting our financial aid packages

Hopefully by the end of this week since it's supposed to be within 2 weeks of March 1st. I'm sure people want to know before making a decision to attend Duke Days or not...

Just got an email today from Duke on my Fin Aid package.

I received my "deny" on the portal. It was a long shot for me but wanted to try. I got into John Hopkins though. Congratulations to everyone who got in and to those who did not, there are many more opportunities out there for you and other schools where you will be a better fit. Just keep trying and do not give up.

Are you going to go to JHU??

Has anyone already made their decision based on the financial aid offered?

Hi, am so torn about accepting my offer for this program! I was pretty underwhelmed with the financial aid I received, was hopeful for a bit more. I'm just having a hard time justifying the cost, especially because I know I am wanting to pursue a graduate level degree shortly after a BSN. Any advice?

One of the good ways to find out if it’s what you want to pursue is by visiting the school on Visiting Day and see if the quality of their program justifies its high cost.

I am right there with you. I already accepted at a cheaper institution BUT Duke is my dream school. So I figured just visit it and see how I feel. I’ve read mixed reviews on Duke’s financial aid..they are either very generous or they give you nothing lol (they say middle class is screwed). Thank God the cost of living is cheap. Also, the general advice is that you should go cheaper on your BSN and spend more on your grad program (which makes sense). But easier said than done with a great school like Duke!

Random--but if anyone is going to the Duke Days on the 29th and flying in early, I'll be in town Wednesday and Thursday if anyone wants to meet up. I'm trying to go to the Duke Lemur Center on Thursday at 11:30, reservations can be made on the website!

Hi, I will be in town on Wednesday too. I’d love to see the Duke Lemur Center too. Which tour option did you pick?
