Hello all,
I will be taking the FNP exam through AANP this month. Assuming I pass the AANP, I have considered taking advantage of the ANCC certification via reciprocity which will no longer be offered after Dec 31, 2010. But it is pricey!
Does anyone have any insight/opinion as to whether it is 'worth it' to spend the extra money and keep up with 2 certifications? In my local area, it does not appear to matter who you are certified with, but I'm not sure if it makes a difference in others places of the country (should I ever move), or down the road for education or promotion type purposes for example.
Thanks!

I am a bit of an over acheiver and like to have "everything," ya know. I actually signed up for both tests just in case I didn't pass one of them, then decided when I passed the ANCC that I'd rather have the $$ refunded than reciprocity! All that really matters is that you're certified, not who certifies you, and that you know what you have to do for your recert in 5 years. I'm not sure I would want to have to do all that work for both boards, as they don't require the same things when you recert!

I have not heard that dual certification matters. The hospital I work at does preferr AANP certification though.

ancc is the cert with the longest history...not worth it to be dual certified, unless it is in 2 practice areas and not the same certification but by 2 diff bodies
