Drug testing issue.

I just took a drug test for a job that I was offered today. I'm a new LPN and this is my first drug test ever. Well, I take a vitamin b every morning. And as I was sitting there looking at my urine I could see that it was the bright, neon yellow it always turns when I take a b complex and it got me wondering if they could alter the drug test. Well I googled it and apparently taking b vitamins is a way to beat a drug test so now they test for them. I've also read that vitamin b2 can cause false positive for thc because its made from hemp oil. My b complex is laden with them. Is it possible I could fail my drug test because I took my usual b complex? Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

I'm worried because I've never taken a drug test before. Believe me, I don't do drugs. I've always been too paranoid to subject myself to various chemicals. I did talk to someone tonight who told me, before I even mentioned vitamins, that a multivitamin he was taking at the time of his drug test indeed caused him to get a false positive. I know this person doesn't do drugs. So, I believe its possible. I also take 2 buspar and 3 melatonin at night to help me sleep. I also take a lot of supplements due to confirmed vitamin deficiencies that I'm fighting. Mostly vitamin d and zinc. My doctor recommended I also supplement with a multivitamin. So it just occurred to me that having that much stuff in my urine at once could throw something off.

Think about it...if taking a multivitamin caused a positive drug screen, then every other person that took a drug test would have to be retested...and that just doesn't happen.

I even use a shampoo by Alterna that is made from Hemp...and my hair has never tested positive for marijuana when clipped for a hair folicle test.

Ok...I think what you heard about Vitamin B got confused with a myth about drug testing. LARGE quantities of Vitamin B (to the point of toxicity or near toxicity) are encouraged by some websites dedicated to teaching people how to "beat" the drug tests...which doesn't seem to work.

There is a cited reference under Wikipedia under "Niacin" as well.

So, as long as you took one or two, you should be fine. But if you took a handful, they'll know.

Reports are emerging from poison control centers of patients ingesting large doses of niacin and experiencing serious adverse effects. Many Internet sites now promote the use of large doses of niacin to teens and young adults as a means to prevent detection of marijuana use by altering urine drug tests.
