Drug Screen Question

I have a bottle of cough syrup with codiene and phenergan in it, it was prescribed to me on 6/21. I took some of it on 8/8 because I couldn't sleep and I had to be up earlier than usual for a new job the next day. On 8/9 I went to orientation for RN school and had to give a urine sample for a drug screen. I received a call today that I need to provide prescriptions for all meds I am taking. Not a problem, I can get a copy of the prescription. My worry is that since is was prescribed for something acute almost 2 months ago . . . is that gonna fly or I am I going to get the boot?

Oh the anxiety . . .

Congrats. As a traveler, I have learned 4 EMR's (with 4 hours training each).

EPIC is by far the best. Good luck.

You have a valid rx, end of story. You have to prove that you have a valid rx; nothing more. Don't mention why you are taking/took the rx, it's none of their business, that's between you and your doctor. I take occasional vicodin for back pain; if I ever get drug tested my rx with "as needed" instructions will be all that I need and certianly all that they will get. The rx can be an old one, no matter. Don't let anyone BS you.......

Of course your urine would test positive for opiates. No biggie. You have a recent prescription.

Your cough was "lingering" I coughed for months after I had pneumonia.

Please stop stressing. ;)

IDK... with a single, normal dose of the stuff, and several hours later :).... depends on the cut off for that particular facility's testing.

I had a rx for Darvocet (before they decided it was deadly- LOL) and it showed up on a drug screen; I had the prescription bottle (and brought in every rx and OTC in my med cabinet- scared me to death), and as long as the rx was in my name and recent, it wasn't a problem. I took it pretty much nightly to tolerate contact w/my bed (chronic pain from several sources), so I'm sure I must have had some sort of level- don't recall the half-life now.

Like BTDT said- don't stress :) If you'd come up + for something illegal, or didn't have a rx in your name for the codeine, then you'd be in trouble.
