drug cards?

I am making some drug cards for clinicals. My instructor gave us a big list as well as a list of drugs my PT. is taking. I had planned on just writing them down on note cards but I was thinking about trying to keep them all together. I know a rubber band around a stack of notecards won't fare well since I can almost guarantee I'll break the band or drop cards.

So I think I'll get one of those spiral bound notecard sets.

What are you using for drug cards? Any other ideas on what would be good to use? Keep in mind it has to fit into a male scrub uniform (I'm wearing Landau which has two smaller pockets; the girls uniform has 8 pockets)

rather than use rubber bands for your cards use the ponytail binders on the hair accessory aisles at the drug stores. i haven't had one break yet and i use them to hold all the junk in my pocket calendars together. if someone in your family sews, a pouch for the cards can be made very easily from scrap cotton material and held closed with any kind of fastener.

this is a good suggestion...it's what i do.

I recently did my drug cards, and I came up with a great system for them.

I went to walmart and bought a small 2 ring binder. It came with 100 lined index cards. I also bought a pack of unlined cards the same size. I formated my word document to 3x5 index cards, and typed them out and sorted them by drug types. Then I got tabs and labled each drug type so I could flip through easily.

I'm going to use the lined cards to keep notes on things durring clinical so that I don't have to carry an extra notebook.

What I really love about this, is that I can easily add to my list, and keep them organized. Hope that helps. It cost me less than $5 to do!

Can you just punch a hole in them and buy one of those rings that open and you can put them in order as you want? They're cheap and you can get them at Wal Mart, school stores, or even office places.

those are all great suggestions but I know the two-ring binder and the large rings won't fit in my little pockets (my scrub pockets SUCK). I'll look into a pony-tail scrunchy (?) with a cloth case.

Thanks!

I agree with chevyv. I use the 4 x 6 index cards, punch a whole in the corner (maybe secure the whole with those hole protectors) and purchased plastic rings (like keychain rings, same size only plastic) from walmart/office supply store, put one of those on and I am set (I only do that for the list of drugs she makes us do, not the patients). They have been surviving pretty well in my pocket for the last two months.
