Please help me set this problem up...I am going blank and am not near any guides.
Give 0.4cc, supplied 5mg/1cc, if 0.4cc is given, how many mg is that? now I can basically eye the answer, but how would this be set up to solve? Thank you so much!:-)

.4cc / 1 cc then x 5 mg = 2mg.

Using ratio and proportion:
0.4cc/x mg = 1cc/5mg
x = (5 * 0.4) / 1
x = 2 / 1
x = 2

As I tell my 8 year old son when he asks me to do his homework for him, I already know how to do it, the point is for you to learn how to do it! Learning how to do a dosage calculation yourself includes setting it up yourself. And if you're near a computer (which apparently you are) you're near an online guide on how to do a dosage calculation. In the time it took you to post here, you could have googled it yourself.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but there are generally several posts per day here of people wanting others to do their homework for them. You will not be able to run to a computer and post to allnurses and wait for someone else to answer the question for you once you are a working nurse!

This is how I would set it up:
5mg/1cc=(x)mg/0.4cc
5mg(0.4cc)=1cc(xmg)
2=x
I know this may be simple to some, but always works.

Oh please.... I really get sick and tired of reading holier than thou posts as yours. Give me a break.
Not any more tired than I am of the "please do my homework for me" posts! Roll your eyes all you want, I stand by what I said - you don't learn anything by getting other people to do your homework for you.
OK, on further reflection I've decided that I could have said what I had to say much more politely. I do think the OP would benefit more from setting this problem up herself, but I could have said simply just that. So, to any and all offended by my tone, I apologize.

no, it's not my homework! and if someone asks for help, either don't answer and maybe keep the not so nice comments to yourself! Geez, just be gracious!:)
