droplet precautions

I see on various websites/textbooks that pneumonia is listed as "droplet precautions." However--I never see this done in the real world. Why is that? (Ps- I also looked up an old thread on here relating to the topic, and it was stated by various users that they too never saw isolation for these pts done in the real world. However, no explanation was given and I'm curious).

Thanks!

depends on the type of pneumonia. Community acquired bacterial pneumonia frequently requires isolation. Viral pneumonia, or ventilator-related pneumonia, may not.

Pretty much everyone I see come to the hospital with pneumonia is put on droplet precautions the first 24 hours they are receiving antibiotic.s

We only put patients with MRSA pneumonia on Droplet precautions.
