Hey,
The priority deadline is today, but there is not even an option to select for the Spring cohort. Only 2016 Fall is available..
@bjl56 May I ask your thoughts on the program now that you've started Quarter 3? I'm curious about the new curriculum and how it's going for you and your cohort.
Well I don't think the program has gotten any better and I didn't really expect it to. Coming back from Q2 to Q3 was the first time I really noticed people missing from my section either because they didn't pass a class last quarter or because they decelerated. I think the goal of changing the curriculum was to have more people succeed but we had final exams that were worth a lot (40% of overall grade in some classes) so for some students who were on the cusp of passing, not doing well on the final made them fail. Failing is lower than a 77.
This quarter we have 4 lecture classes with 3 clinicals as opposed to last quarter where we had 3 lecture classes, one online class and 2 clinicals. It's exhausting but it's doable. They have it arranged where we only have one quiz/test per day of classes. So right now most weeks are scheduled as 2 exams and 3 clinicals. Probably our toughest quarter yet. With the old curriculum, Q3's workload was Q2 and Q2 was where most students didn't pass so it will be interesting to see who makes it to Q4. I think one of the saddest things about this program is having to say things like "it will be interesting to see who makes it to Q4". I wish the program was more centered toward student success but it's really just about graduating nurses quickly to fill the nursing shortage.
