Drexel Acceptance

Published

I have received provisional acceptance into Drexel's accelerated nursing program (ACE) for Fall '04!!! I need to complete some pre-reqs. Now, I can start working on securing some funds, hopefully!

Thanks for the info about ccconline. I will have to take the Microbiology course assuming that I get in-I am waiting to hear from Drexel and Binghamton University. How is the microbiology going through them? Is ccconline the community college system of Colorado? How long did it take you to hear from Drexel-my final application went in at the start of February.

They told me it takes about 6-8 weeks to find out from Drexel if you are in. I think they accept anyone with their Bachelors degree with a GPA above a 3.0. If you do not have a GPA above a 3.0 they look at your last 60 credits and if they are above a 3.0 they will accept you. Also, if you are border line like a 2.7, they will send your app to committee to be reviewed for possible admission. If that were someone's case, I would make sure you send letters of recommendation even thought they normally don't require it.

It took about 2 months for me to receive my acceptance letter and I applied back in Sept.

Actually, I am enjoying all of my online courses!! I am doing well. It's a lot of work but I have A's in all classes so far! My weekends are consumed with studying HAP & Microbiology! You have assignments, lab and quizzes every week and major exams once a month.

Well done nurse diva! we are all happy for you.

May I ask, what type of cumulative pre-requisite GPA is the ACE program asking for?

Well, I have to come up with the money to attend. However, I am working on that! Any suggestions, please pass them on to me!

They do look at your overall GPA. If it is not 2.7, then they look at the last 60 hrs for at least a 3.0. My last 60 hrs is a MS in Computer Science & 2nd major in computer science. I had a high gpa in graduate school & 2nd major, so that's what helped me!

I'm filling out the online application for the ACE program right now.

I am confused about the letters of recommendation. Do ACE applicants have to have letters of recommendation? If so, what format? I downloaded the regular undergraduate application and their recommendation templates say something about academic counselor/ advisor doing a recommendation (sounds like for kids coming out of high school to me).

Nurse diva, what did you do as far as the recommendations are concerned?

Oops,

never mind. I just read that ACE applicants are not required to send in letters of recommendation. I guess I just answered my own question.

But do you think it would be a good idea if I just sent in one for safe measure? Or would they consider that as "not following directions?" What do you think?

I know, I know, I'm being very anal retentive. :uhoh21:

CONGRATULATIONS CYNTHIA!!!!! Drexel huh??!!!...WOW...that's impressive!!! :)

If your overall GPA or last 60 credits are not above a 2.8 then you would want to send the letters of recommendation. They would use them if you application went to commitee for review. You app goes for review only if your GPA is lower than a 2.8.

my overall cum GPA (of the nursing pre-reqs only )is between a 3.5 and 3.6. maybe i'm in the clear!

Don't do the recommendations! The most important thing to them is the GPA and that you are able to complete the pre-reqs before matriculations.

Also, they look at total overall, not pre-reqs alone!
