Do hospitals hire STNA's or are STNA's mainly just for acute care? If they do, what areas do you think might be hiring? I'm interested in Psyche, do mental wards hire STNA's?
Any and all help is appreciated.

Absolutely hospitals, and other non-LTC areas have a need for nurse's aides. Your duties may vary from environment to environment. I was a nurse's aide all through nursing school and never once worked LTC. I worked for 1 1/2 years on a cardiac/tele med-surg floor and for 9 months on a pediatric floor. I had several classmates in nursing school that worked as nurse's aides in psych, so they are also used in that setting. I would suggest you call HR at the hospital you are interested in and ask if they are hiring nurse's aides and find out what departments they are hiring.

Check out the CNA forum lower down on the Student page here and you'll get t read a lot about CNA/NAC/STNA.
Also if youre allready in nursing school you can work as a nurse tech after your first term.
Good luck
