Hey Guys,
I’m just here to remind Douglas College students who want pursue Nursing and are not yet offered an acceptance for Fall 2021 to apply tomorrow, February 1, 2021 for Winter 2022.
Let us not be worried about our waiting. Instead, let us utilize our time for other productive activities that can better prepare us for our careers ahead.
Best of luck to everyone!
Hey everyone,
I just want to ask, I know everyone here are aware of the certificates that we need to acquire for the full enrolment to the 2nd year bachelor in Nursing I.e. first aid and CPR trainings; as well as some immunization reports. Anyway, my question is that WHERE are we gonna enrol for the first aid training, etc.? (PS. I know they will send a follow up email regarding this, but I’m just curious)
Thanks and congratulations to us!

Hey!
For my first aid course, I signed up at St. John's Ambulance for their CPR-BLS (HCP) course. I'm doing mine June 1 + 2. It was $165. I also already started my immunizations. I had this information from my acceptance at Langara so that's why I know this ? I got my TB skin test done recently at TMVC in Burnaby. They have other locations as well if that doesn't work for you. It was $55.
Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. Do you guys know when should we get our immunization prior to the start date. Because I also recently applied at CDI College (but I cancelled it.LOL) and they required a time frame as to when you should do the immunizations and trainings prior to the start date. I.e. Training should be done 3 months before the start date.
Also, I think they have a manual for this in the Douglas college website

For Langara, they wanted immunization forms done one month before the start of the program. The criminal record check and first aid certificate were due first day of classes. The mask fitting was due before first day of clinicals. I'm assuming things should be similar with Douglas? We are getting all the info end of July. As soon as you receive it, I'd start working on them as soon as possible. Some vaccines take a while to get, incase you are missing any!

This is for Fall 2020. This is the latest. They haven’t updated it yet. Anyway, the answer to my question is in Page 6. It must be a year for BLS, and for standard first aid it must be current within 3 years

Thanks. Yes, I will.
Hi All. I’ve applied to the Winter 2022 nursing program at Douglas and am still awaiting a reply as to if I got into the program. I’ve been hearing that we need to apply to graduate from the academic foundations of nursing at Douglas in order to be eligible for the Winter 2022 program. I’m currently in the academic foundations program at Douglas and all my pre requisites are done. Does anyone know if I need to apply to graduate or if just being in the program and having all my pre requisites done is enough?

Hello there,
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, (not that it’s bad), but I believe the Winter 2022 intake is already closed. I am part of it. We got the news last May 17, 2021. I’m afraid you have to reapply for Fall 2022.
About the application to graduate, yes, the Douglas college encourages all of us to apply for graduation, in order for us to acquire the certificate for Academic Foundations program. I am sure about the acquisition of the certificate, but it being a requirement for the Winter 2022 intake, I’m not quite sure. But, it does sound reasonable. So it might be it.
Lastly, I don’t have a definite answer to your question about the need to apply for graduation in order to be accepted, but in my experience, I finished all the prerequisites in the academic foundations program. Then I applied for graduation after my last semester taking the prereqs. So, it might be a yes. But I want to hear from others here as well, just to be sure.

Hi Ana,
Yes, you do need to apply to the 2nd year nursing program once you have completed your prerequisites and have been in the academic foundations program. The AF program isn’t the actual nursing program but rather a “pool” for selection to the 2nd year nursing program (which is the actual nursing program offered at Douglas college)
The Winter 2022 intake is now closed and qualified students had received a seat offer back in May. However, students that did not get in could possibly get an offer if another accepted student declines the offer or withdraw.
The next intake date is in OCTOBER for fall 2022. Please be aware that there are new guidelines that will be in effect and you can view this on Douglas college nursing program website under guidelines.
Hope this helps!
Hello everyone,
I just would like to get everyone’s opinion about my situation regarding the immunization record. You see, I came in Canada last 3 years ago and I did not have any documents with me concerning my immunizations. I would consider myself, for the most part, in Category B as I don't have any documents with me. So, my main concern is that that the vaccine series of Hep B, for example, is 1 month apart from the 1st and second dose and 4 months for the 3rd one. Will it hinder my application if I only have 2 doses of vaccine in my immunization record? I will definitely contact the admissions regarding this. But, for this time I would appreciate all your input regarding my situation.
thanks
