Hi everyone, I wanted to start this thread for all the eager Nursing applicants just like myself! :) I have completed my 10 courses in Fall 2015, and have applied once for Winter 2017 but did not get accepted. Now, this will be my second time applying and I cannot wait to apply for the Fall 2017 intake! Anyone else interested in Douglas Nursing program Fall 2017 intake? :)
Well I started Jan 2015 I followed the course outline for the nursing program...
First semester was:
English 1130
Bio I
Social Science course
Psych 1100
Summer:
Bio II
Stats
English
Fall:
Patho
Microbiology
Psych 1200
I had been out of the school system for over a decade when I started up again. My first semester felt heavy but I continued to take shifts at work and school full time. Honestly if your able to go for the full 4 but if not 3 is perfectly doable. The way I did it though allowed me to concentrate on my stats and bio and my last semester microbiolgy had separate lab so it was like an additional class.
Good luck!
Hey guys! I also applied for the fall 2017 semester but I finished my courses this past summer. I was just wondering what your guys experience was in the past with applying and how they choose who is accepted and who isn't. Is it gpa based and if so, do you know what gpa they're looking for? Thanks!
The following is the picture I have put together from my experience. Take it with a grain of salt.
By my estimation, the fall 2017 intake will mostly favor those who have finished all of their nursing prerequisites at the end of Fall 2015. So if you want to wait for a seat at Douglas College, your expected wait time is at least 2 more intakes, assuming you have good grades.
The game for getting into Douglas College Nursing is first to separate those who have their courses finished. Among these candidates, those with the highest GPA will be selected.
Funny thing. You can estimate roughly your chances of getting in by looking at the number of pathophysiology seats offered at a certain term, i.e., summer 2016. These are all of the potential applicants for fall 2018. (yup, that means you should have a realistic shot to submit your application in October 2017.) Your GPA needs to be among roughly the top 60 students then you will have a shot.
This is not counting, cumulatively, all the rejected candidates before the winter 2016 term, who all have priority over you.
Douglas College has offered like 210 seats for patho in Fall 2015. This may potentially push you back even one more term.
You need to start looking at other places, unless you want to wait conservatively at least 2 years to get in Douglas College Nursing.
Hi Everyone!
The decision making of who gets in or not is killing me! Btw, what's everyone's application like at this time?! 😬 Mine is incomplete outstanding still, and my requirements aren't updated yet. And I've checked the Douglas nursing site, saying " Winter 2017 and fall 2017 is full". Does this mean they no longer accepted accplication at this point orrr they have already made decision?? 😬
Thanks!
It looks like whoever's on a waitlist for Winter 2017, their application is been carried out to Fall 2017 term application😬.. My case, I was not waitlisted, but I've been offered that my fall 2017 application will be entered by the admission officer. But Until now, still no update! It looks like you are going to get in threemarys! I have a good feeling! But Im still crossing fingers that We 'll all get in the fall 2017!! 😬

Hi nursingkid08,
I received no letter or emails till about a week ago when rosemarie emailed me to tell me that I was on the wait list. I emailed back and was told my position, also informing me that winter 2017 was full and no chance of getting in.
Like leslie_ said it's now a waiting game.. I logged online today and saw my application up but no decision. The suspense!
