Douglas College BSPN Winter 2019

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone!!! Just wanted to see if anyone on here has applied for the Winter 2019 intake of Douglas' Psych nursing program! Has anyone heard back? When have you completed your pre-reqs?

Hello!

I was accepted (recently withdrew my seat- going to BSN)

But I crept this forum to find out my chances so perhaps this will help someone:

I finished my foundation cert as Winter 2017 cane to a close. I was accepted for Fall 2018, and winter 2019. I had a 3.64 GPA and no prior degree.

Enjoy your program! Psych is fascinating. Congrats.

When should one be applying to the winter 2019 intake? I'm coming from the Okanagan and I've only got patho and micro to finish (did the rest of the pre reqs through transfer credit as I was told by my advisor due to the number of people trying to get in in Coquitlam). Is it okay to apply when you still have pre reqs left?

Psyc nursing doesn't fill up as fast, I'd go to "apply now BC" as they may still have the Psyc nursing application ability all year. I know last year there was the ability to apply all year round.

I applied while in my last semester of Academic Foundations. I will still able to apply, but I did not get a seat for that fall. Once I completed my pre-reqs, i then applied for the winter term, and was accepted.

Apply to the first term you can, as a lot of students only applied to psych as a back up to general nursing. There are a large amount of seats dropped as opposed to Gen so you most likely won't be waiting for 2 years like us gens...

Hi Cheyenne!

I applied in my last semester of pre-reqs (winter 2018) and was accepted for winter 2019 and waitlisted for fall 2018. You can definitely apply during your pre reqs, although you won't be accepted until they are completed.

^ True! You can still apply year-round for psych nursing. Were you waitlisted for the fall after you finished the pre-reqs? Did you end up getting a last-minute seat for fall? I am wondering cause i'm in a similar boat.. I was accepted for winter 2019 and waitlisted for fall 2018 :)
