My daughter has just finished her Academic Foundations Certificate this semester, in preparation for the BSN program. Anyone else here in the same situation? She has applied for both the Sept '15 and Jan '16 intakes. No word yet.
Does anyone have information about when the offers are sent out for these intakes?
Also, any current Douglas students who can share how long it took for them to get an offer for a seat in the program, following completion of the Academic Foundations?
It's so difficult to be waiting and not knowing how many applicants might be ahead of her for offers.
Hey all,
I am wanting to apply for the academic foundations program -> BSN
I was wondering how intense the classes are and what advice you could give me if any im a little apprehensive
and do they somewhat set you up with the courses that you need to take or do you pretty much take whatever course yu can get
on the list at douglas college? Has anyone taken the courses PT or was it strictly FT and did you have an easy time getting
into those courses douglas is asking you to take or was it hard to get into some of them.. I was thinking of taking some courses
at UFV (the transferable ones) Im so new to this and I know it is what I want to do, just some sense of guidance would be
so helpful!

I know lots of first year ( academic foundation students) who took only one or two classes a semester. You just won't be done in a year going that route, but it's an option. Also, as long as you take the classes suggested on the website, you can pick and choose the most appealing ones to you.
The courses themselves are pretty easy, the bio, Patho, micro, and stats are the toughest, but certainly manageable.
If your grades are decent you might not get wait listed. It depends on what registration date they give you.

My daughter found out she was accepted for the Fall 2016 intake. She got a letter on Sept 24th. Now, a it's a year of waiting to start, but it's great to have a definite date at last! She completed her Academic Foundations courses in the Winter '15 semester.
Good luck to all who are waiting.
