Hi everyone!I am applying to the fall 2012 nursing program at Dorothea Hopfer and have been searching for reviews,I haven't found much, so if any one has graduated from or is currently attending Dorothea Hopfer I'd love to hear your experience their as a student.Thank you!
I believe for the "Evening Program" you must have ALL pre-reqs completed including Intro to Chemistry (due to less study time). The "Day Program", if you haven't completed all necessary pre-reqs, once admitted to Montefiore/Hopfer you can finish them @MercyCollege while completing you NS education (due to more study time).
No, you can do the evening program without all prereqs done. I was accepted and I still had two left to go.
Well...I have ALL the Pre-Req's finished as well. But.......they've had some recent changes, before all prereqs had to be a grade "C" and up to be accepted. No longer so, now it has to be a grade "C+" and up to be accepted. This for me means I have to take Psych 101 over because I got a "C" in this course back in 1998! Sucks big time ;0( . So I'm just gonna knock it out now this semester at the CUNY School I did all my Pre Req's at. I start next Thursday. Also....Intro to Chemistry is not shown to be a Pre req for Hopfer on their curriculum but it is....Chem MUST be done b4 entering their program. The advisor told me this last Thursday at the open house upon going over my application w/ me. So thank God I did it already...most nursing programs want Chem anyway. So it's great going into the program having to do the Nurs classes ONLY! Lord knows its enought on its own! All the best to u in whatever ur doing...;0)
i took a yr of fundamental chemistry in high school. will that be enough or do i have to take 1 semester of college chemistry? thnx

Honestly, it's best to call the school. The staff is always more than welcome to answer your burning questions. I would suggest to go on-line and read their student catalog & handbook...EVERYTHING you need to know is there. Depending on when your applying, try and go to an Open House session. I went to one and it helped me make my decision tremendously, It's very informative. Links below...

Hi, where in Queens do you live? I'm submitting applications to 5 different schools including Dorothea Hopfer (now Montefiore school of nursing), I'm really eyeing to get into Montefiore, but I'm thinking twice about the traveling if ever I'll get into the program since I live in Queens. Do you drive? or do you take any kind of transportation to get to the school? any response will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi, glad to hear that you got an invite for the Teas. I applied for the day program starting September 2014 but unfortunately, I changed it to the Evening program since I have a full time job. I'm praying that they'll call me sometime in September after the evening program deadline. When are you taking the TEas?

I chose dates on Apr n May. They haven't gotten back to me yet as to which date they're putting me in.
