Hi! I applied to Dominican College Weekday ABSN for the 2022 start! Anyone else apply?
@emxoxo5001 No prob! So it's kinda tricky to say because I'm unsure if the weekday & weekend programs do clinical at the same hospitals. Additionally, COVID has def changed things as a couple of clinicals were canceled this semester. So last semester we were at Valley & Phelps. This semester we were at Nyack, & a specialty children's hospital in Westchester. Some students were supposed to go to another hospital this semester (can't remember which one) but it got canceled due to COVID. So really it varies each semester based on the classes you're in & whether or not the hospital(s) are allowing students in.
Overall I would say things are okay. Some professors are very helpful and help you if needed while others...not so much. Also, communication & organization seem to be a constant issue. You really have to be proactive with reaching out to professors if things are unclear.
Hello City_nurse ,
Please tell me about the nursing classes, what is the passing grade for nursing course? can a student retake a class if failed ? How long are the classes, Do they teach the classes 1 at the time or not ? how many hours of clinical is required per week. How are the exams... etc.
Please let us know all details.
Thank you.
Hey, I just finished the weekday ABSN 2023. You will be taking multiple classes each semester. There is no remedial in this program it is too fast paced, however the ones that failed out have the option to go to the weekend ABSN from where they left off when the timing matches up. Class length depends on the instructor but the average day was about 3-5 hours. Clinical is generally 3 days a week however some people get remote clinical so its not bad. The exams are dependent on the teacher some more difficult than others, some teachers don't teach so my suggestion is to study as much as you can. Even the good teachers require you to study and to learn this won't just be a memorization process. You need to learn everything as it all culminates with each class you take. If you do not have time to spend long hours studying after school or you are afraid that you arent a good test taker or not good at being rushed to take exams (they come very quickly and its a lot of information) then id suggest looking into the weekend ABSN since they are slower paced and do have remedial.
